I too started looking at XLT, but decided to go with the Lariat. To many niceties I didn't want to give up.

Incorrect. The system automatically deactivates intelligent access keys left inside when the doors are locked until the unlock button is pressed on the key. So it no less secure than a physical key if it is not found.I went xlt I hate wireless car keys. I can use the keypad to open it up and lock the key in the console safe making it easy to park somewhere and have someone else pick it up. With lariat people could start it and drive away with the key inside.
I love, love, love my XLT, but if I were doing it again I’d get the Lariat for the push-to-start (which I didn’t think I’d miss, but, boy oh boy, do I) and the adaptive cruise control. The reason for getting the XLT? I wanted fabric seats. My XLT Lux, AWD, 4K-tow, and FX4 is wonderful. The radio is as good as any I’ve ever had, including some BOSE and such units (I love the Apple Car Play and I added a wireless dongle), it is MUCH quieter than any SUV I’ve ever owned—some of them high-end (the noise level is somewhat road surface dependent). Some Mav owners complain of wind noise. We’ve not noted any at all in ours. The seats are extremely comfortable and I appreciate the electric lumbar support on mine. The interior is more roomy than our previous SUV. We are at nearly 12,000 miles and the computer is showing 30 mpg lifetime overall. As I'm endlessly waiting for my maverick to come in. I'm debating on upgrading from the XLT to the Lariat. I keep going back and forth on it. I'm curious to what everyone's reason were for choosing their trim level. Also has anyone gotten the XLT or Lariat and wish they didn't.

I am also awaiting the Maverick Lariat and it was exactly what I was looking for. I did go hybrid because my everyday car is the Mach e GT and the Maverick will mostly only used on trips so the comfort and highway options were perfect for my use and I never considered the XLT.As I'm endlessly waiting for my maverick to come in. The same reason I have never used basic cruise until getting the ACC with Lariat/Lux- It was just useless with the amount of traffic.I got the exact spec I ordered, XLT 4K tow spray-in liner, full (ish) size spare and roll up bed cover. It is a fantastic truck for about 29K plus fees. This was an economic decision though, and I'm still debating selling it for what I owe and ordering a Lariat, JUST for adaptive cruise control. I did 200 miles on interstate five on the weekend and tried to tell myself it's OK, you can just reset your cruise control value 100 times manually.
BUT if I wasn't flinching at the extra 5K or so I would have for sure ordered the Lariat Lux version of my same truck.
This is likely my last gas-powered new vehicle purchase and is definitely my last time purchasing a new vehicle without ACC.
I got a fully loaded XLT and I dont think I'm missing a lot from the Lariat. The seats in the XLT are more comfortable IMO, I test drove a Lariat and the seats were too hard for my taste. As I'm endlessly waiting for my maverick to come in. Did XLT, EB, Luxury package and CP360. I live in Kansas so no need for AWD. I do need heated seats to prevent divorce. I personally find the cloth to be more comfortable than non-perforated vinyl during extreme temperatures. That's all but about 12 days a year around here.
Since I work in technology security and so some research, I do have a strong preference for "old school" keyless entry and a physical key in the ignition to start the car. It's pretty easy for a bad person to gain entry to; and possibly start, a proximity key enabled vehicle. We have five cars with proximity / push-to-start (and seven without) so always carry a faraday pouch when traveling.
All that said, I drive about 60k a year in very remote areas, so i do miss actual satellite radio, and the speakers in the XLT are the most horrid cheapies Ford could find. The sound really sucks. I'm not sure these two things are worth the extra coin given the disadvantages of the seat material and security issues for me, but everyone has their own priorities.
I got my XLT fully loaded for a little over 32 the same futures in a Lariat would have been about 37 was not worth the extra money to me for the little upgradesGet the Lariat if you want the best and most premium Maverick, get the XLT if you cant afford it.
Good for you! The extra upgrades were totally worth it for the rest of us Lariat owners, didnt mind the extra 5k, money well spent.I got my XLT fully loaded for a little over 32 the same futures in a Lariat would have been about 37 was not worth the extra money to me for the little upgrades
Plenty of cheap cloth seat covers out there, not a very good excuse, XLT is not better in any way.Not necessarily true. Vinyl seats suck if you live anywhere with warm weather. Living in the south I would never buy a car with vinyl seats, so that rules out the Lariat.
