I too started looking at XLT, but decided to go with the Lariat. To many niceties I didn't want to give up.

I wanted the Lariat because of the push start, etc, etc....but mainly got one because that was the only one available and it was in the color I wanted....it's nice to say what you want but a totally different game with what is available now.

I ordered the Lariat. I decided to splurge a little since I’m older and able to pay cash. I can understand those that don’t want to pay the extra cost if it doesn’t fit their budget, though.

I went xlt I hate wireless car keys. I can use the keypad to open it up and lock the key in the console safe making it easy to park somewhere and have someone else pick it up. With lariat people could start it and drive away with the key inside.
Incorrect. The system automatically deactivates intelligent access keys left inside when the doors are locked until the unlock button is pressed on the key. So it no less secure than a physical key if it is not found.

As I'm endlessly waiting for my maverick to come in. I'm debating on upgrading from the XLT to the Lariat. I keep going back and forth on it. I'm curious to what everyone's reason were for choosing their trim level. Also has anyone gotten the XLT or Lariat and wish they didn't.
I love, love, love my XLT, but if I were doing it again I’d get the Lariat for the push-to-start (which I didn’t think I’d miss, but, boy oh boy, do I) and the adaptive cruise control. The reason for getting the XLT? I wanted fabric seats. My XLT Lux, AWD, 4K-tow, and FX4 is wonderful. The radio is as good as any I’ve ever had, including some BOSE and such units (I love the Apple Car Play and I added a wireless dongle), it is MUCH quieter than any SUV I’ve ever owned—some of them high-end (the noise level is somewhat road surface dependent). Some Mav owners complain of wind noise. We’ve not noted any at all in ours. The seats are extremely comfortable and I appreciate the electric lumbar support on mine. The interior is more roomy than our previous SUV. We are at nearly 12,000 miles and the computer is showing 30 mpg lifetime overall.

Ordered XLT, but would have ordered Lariat to keep the 3 options I lost with the ranger I traded in. They really dumbed down the XLT on the Maverick compared the XLT Ranger I traded for it!

I am also awaiting the Maverick Lariat and it was exactly what I was looking for. I did go hybrid because my everyday car is the Mach e GT and the Maverick will mostly only used on trips so the comfort and highway options were perfect for my use and I never considered the XLT.

I got the exact spec I ordered, XLT 4K tow spray-in liner, full (ish) size spare and roll up bed cover. It is a fantastic truck for about 29K plus fees. This was an economic decision though, and I'm still debating selling it for what I owe and ordering a Lariat, JUST for adaptive cruise control. I did 200 miles on interstate five on the weekend and tried to tell myself it's OK, you can just reset your cruise control value 100 times manually.

BUT if I wasn't flinching at the extra 5K or so I would have for sure ordered the Lariat Lux version of my same truck.

This is likely my last gas-powered new vehicle purchase and is definitely my last time purchasing a new vehicle without ACC.
The same reason I have never used basic cruise until getting the ACC with Lariat/Lux- It was just useless with the amount of traffic.

I got a fully loaded XLT and I dont think I'm missing a lot from the Lariat. The seats in the XLT are more comfortable IMO, I test drove a Lariat and the seats were too hard for my taste.

I have one of both. My XLT is an Ecoboost AWD, FX4, with Lux package, moonroof, and CP360 with tow package.
My Lariat is a Luxury package with Ecoboost with FWD.
Both of them have spray in bed liners and tanneau covers and they are both Carbonized Gray.
They are both great trucks and each have their strengths and weaknesses.
The XLT actually rides better due to the 4 wheel independent suspension from the AWD but only has 17 inch Pirrelli tires with a little more agressive tread due to the FX4 off road package so the Lariat gets about 3 mpg better in city and highway because it has 18 inch Michelin Primacy low resistance rolling tires.
The Lariat is much quieter inside than the XLT while driving.
My wife drives the XLT and doesn't care about all the bells and whistles of the Lariat Lux and really likes the black wheels on her FX4. I like the rims on my Lariat so we both are happy and I especially like the ACC.
I use it all the time. When used in conjunction with the Eco mode ( which the FX4 doesn't have due to it's extra off road modes) I am averaging 29 city and 36 highway. She is averaging 25.6 city and 34 highway.
Cars and trucks are only going to get more expensive. I picked both of them up over a 3 week period in May-June without pre-ordering them. They were asking $15k over MSRP for each but I haggled them both down to $3k over for each figuring the 2023 price increase would be at least that much and I have both to enjoy now instead of a year from now. I love both the XLT and Lariat and feel like we got great value for our money compared with other vehicles out there. I have friends that are paying what I paid for my trucks for 4 year old F150s with almost 100k on them.
Buy whatever you want and can afford.
The only thing I regret is that I wanted a Velocity blue one but am happy to have one and am enjoying it.

Did XLT, EB, Luxury package and CP360. I live in Kansas so no need for AWD. I do need heated seats to prevent divorce. I personally find the cloth to be more comfortable than non-perforated vinyl during extreme temperatures. That's all but about 12 days a year around here.

Since I work in technology security and so some research, I do have a strong preference for "old school" keyless entry and a physical key in the ignition to start the car. It's pretty easy for a bad person to gain entry to; and possibly start, a proximity key enabled vehicle. We have five cars with proximity / push-to-start (and seven without) so always carry a faraday pouch when traveling.

All that said, I drive about 60k a year in very remote areas, so i do miss actual satellite radio, and the speakers in the XLT are the most horrid cheapies Ford could find. The sound really sucks. I'm not sure these two things are worth the extra coin given the disadvantages of the seat material and security issues for me, but everyone has their own priorities.
Get the Lariat if you want the best and most premium Maverick, get the XLT if you cant afford it.
I got my XLT fully loaded for a little over 32 the same futures in a Lariat would have been about 37 was not worth the extra money to me for the little upgrades

I ordered a fully loaded XLT 2.0 with luxury, FX4, 360 and tow back in late September. Dealer let me know of a similarly optioned Lariat but with a different color. Luckily I said yes and got it in back in April. Had hesitations about the interior and love it. All of the upgrades are worth it. So glad I ended up with it. BTW - the XLT I ordered got pushed to 2023.

Good for you! The extra upgrades were totally worth it for the rest of us Lariat owners, didnt mind the extra 5k, money well spent.

Not necessarily true. Vinyl seats suck if you live anywhere with warm weather. Living in the south I would never buy a car with vinyl seats, so that rules out the Lariat.
Plenty of cheap cloth seat covers out there, not a very good excuse, XLT is not better in any way.
