I’m hoping someone on here can help me find what I’m looking for, because I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I need a replacement rubber gasket for where I stick the key in. I had an air freshener that seemed to make it deteriorate but now it has completely fallen apart. I can’t seem to find a replacement part anywhere. Can someone post a part number for it? Thank you.

That's a warranty claim if ever I saw one...That's really bad. Will probably cost you $100.

Have never seen anything like that. No way the sun would have caused that, take it the dealer and see if it is covered under warranty. I suspect hot ignition switch? Rubbing on something, aftermarket stye key or fob?

That had to be a bad batch of those rubber type guards. Looks like what may happen if you put an aggressive chemical on it, not say you had anything to do with it.

From what I can tell, the rubber trim is part of the lower steering column shroud.

Ford Maverick XLT Rubber ignition switch guard. 75b914215fd2c41dbe38219a90472763

Part number for the lower shroud is LJ6Z-3530-AB

If not warranty, I would drop the shroud and go get a new grommet from one of the DIY home centers or hardware stores. Shouldn't be too hard.

What the.......is your Maverick 20 years old!? I just looked at out 3 year old mavericks gasket, still looks like new. Those air fresheners must be very toxic!

Maybe he had a lifetime air freshener that worked as long as you could live. Ahhh! Did the key grommet stink??? = Get rid of that smell!!!

He said he had an air freshener against it and maybe it had some kind of petroleum based solvent in it or something. Mine looks normal on a 22. I would check around in junk yards for a wrecked unit with a key If it's out of warranty or they don't cover. I mean if you tell them that you had an air freshener against it dissolving it, it won't be warranty.

If it was a Febreze like those sold at Costco, I had a similar issue with all the paint peeling from the dash vent on my '99 F150.

Gee, I wonder what the air freshener did to your lungs...

Go to your Ford dealer parts department and ask about the part.

Also, the blue plastic in that area also looks damaged, perhaps by a harsh chemical. What have used to clean it with?
