The hybrid engine is port injected and not turbocharged so it's going to be much less stressed. There's an argument either way but it's going to take a while to find out

Yup it's a BATTERY not the physical engine. Forced induction ICE motors never last as long as NA motors.

Exactly. The ecoboost is way more fun. It’s a much better driver’s car than the hybrid. With that 8 speed automatic and the dial shifter, it’s not just a lame automatic transmission like the hybrid has. And the precise throttle feel of the small displacement, high boost turbo engine is just chef’s kiss. It puts the throttle response of any N/A engine to shame. And the engine note too. All that glorious intake sound and raw exhaust note that gets muffled by sticking a turbo in exhaust stream is just music to my ears. And then there’s the driving dynamics. The ecoboost chassis and suspension drive just so much better than the hybrid. And when you’re really biased against hybrids, the difference is night and day, even though on paper they look almost identical.

I’m looking to buy the 2025 AWD Hybrid, but I’m hesitant about adding the 4K towing package.


I’m quite sure I’ll never need more than the standard 2,000-pound towing capacity versus the 4,000 pounds with the 4K package.


How does this impact resale value? Will it significantly affect the resale of the Maverick?


I’m also curious about the statistics—how many people actually add the 4K package on their AWD models? When I asked ChatGPT, it reported that only 9% to 12% do.

The 4k pkg is more than just towing. There is improved cooling and you get the nifty 7-pin trailer plug, lol. Money WELL SPENT! Pinch pennies elsewhere, like if you dont need fancy trim save tens of thousands of dollars and go basic.

I would Definitely get the 4 K towing package. It's only $745.00, great for transmission weather you tow or not. Might want to tow in future plus great for resale.

It better be more fun considering how much more you are shelling out for gas. I'll take the hybrid and if I want fun I'll put it in "sport" mode, which is pretty zippy in itself and I'll still get 31 to 32 mpg's. Way more gitty-up than my old Tundra v8.

FWIW, I drove out to Utah to pick up the Oru camper from a forum member. I'm going to really tech it out this spring. I had at one time been thinking about a van build (Sprinter, then Transit, then Promaster, after coming to my senses), but am now converging on adding an Aliner Evolution LG. The Oru provides decent fishing accommodations when towing the boat, and provides extra sleeping (the +2) accommodations when pulling the Aliner, as well as space for deployable solar suitcases, a Blu Tech filter&pump, and other off-grid RV stuff to haul that wouldn't easily fit into the collapible Aliner.

If I like the Aliner setup, I'm thinking about doing a Ram 3500 (Cummins rules) and 30' Airstream Classic after selling my house, for as long as my body and cognitive abilities (and interest) will support that lifestyle. The whole boat/fishing thing isn't sorted out yet. Most likely the boat would go live in a fishing region I wanted to target for an extended period (really takes a couple of years to figure it out) while the mobile living quarters ventured out on their own for perhaps extended periods.

The Mav hybrid is perfect for the Aliner "trial period", and the Aliner build-out would be a great trial for thinking about the Airliner/Ram Cummins all-in nomad rig. That's me. YYMV.

I grew up on a farm, and have long had a sort of inviolate bond to a particular piece of dirt. At 60+ I'm finally working out of that.

I added it because I tow a lot between boats, ATV's, snowmobiles and such. My 22 hybrid handled it all as well and got about 5 mpg better than the 4k AWD hybrid does. I don't think the 4k really adds anything significant to the resale value. It's all just personal preference.

I am going to take a wild guess and ChatGPT is wrong, I guarantee more than 9% to 12% added the 4k tow with the 2025 Hybrid. It's probably calculating ALL Maverick sales, with the 22-24 models included WITH the 2025's. Whether that be including the Ecoboosts or just the hybrids (which obviously would be %0 for 22-24 models) it would bring the average drastically down either way. Doesn't Ford release those stats on monthly build statements? I have a 3k pound camper and added it. You do have to add Copilot 1,0 but I'm loving that so far. Totally worth it.

With the 4K package, the tongue weight goes from 200 to 400 even though we believe it is still the same class of hitch. When I was shopping this past month on Ford's website to see what was available in a 150 mile radius, there were a lot of 4K equipped vehicles, but also a lot with the black appearance package. Could be that dealers ordered the wrong equipment and they have slow movers taking up space on their lot, but my salesman claimed that they order the vast majority with tow package. I like the option to possibly tow my son-in-law's 3000 Lb. trailer with a UTV if the occasion arises, cooling capacity for traveling the roads on trips to the Rockies, and I like something for a spare tire.

Yeah, wanted Carbon gray Lariat 4k Tow, AWD Hybrid, and no moon roof. I had to eat the moon roof. All in all not a horrible compromise, but I haven't yet figured out a practical use for the moon roof with the Oru up there...

Not only did I get the 4k tow and the color I wanted, but got it in the trim I wanted and with the SIBL I wanted too. Perfectly built.

And I feel that for the next several years, resale will be higher than the cost of the option. 4K Hybrids are HARD to find used.

Similar here... wanted '26 Lariat Hybrid AWD 4K Tow in Ruby Red, ended up finding a dealer ordered in-transit '26 Mav with everything wanted PLUS rear slider (didnt want). But in my case, got the dealer to eat the slider and sell the truck as if without it for invoice. Im sure they wont miss the diff.... will make it up in end of year kickback on their sale numbers.

The ole "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" thing works well when your dealer is wanting to move units and not lose a sale.

I don't think a blower for the hybrid would be any good. First of all the Atkinson cycle engine is a lean burn engine. you need more fuel for more power, the second thing is with a blower you need less compression, and the intake valve to close sooner and not be open part way up on the compression stroke. Just my throughts.
