  1. VW Is Reportedly Developing a New Pickup Truck for the United States

As the previous owner of five VWs (New Jetta, New Beetle, Golf, Golf, GTI) I can say with certainty it will be unnecessarily complicated and very expensive to repair.
  2. 3D print CD player mount

It's like this one but I didn't get it on this site and I didn't pay this much. So far it has worked flawlessly and has been skip resistant...
  3. 3D print CD player mount

CD player tray V2.0. This one goes in one of the cup holders and holds the player at an angle. Still working on the bottom part and using a coffee cup for the moment. Laughing at myself at this point since I can probably just buy something that works like this, but I like tinkering. I'm...
  4. Post YOUR Maverick TRUCKING!

Some people say it isn't a truck but I sure as h3ll couldn't have done this with my GTI.
  5. What's your Maverick hauling in the bed? [Photos Edition]

I know some people disagree but it looks like a truck to me.
  6. 12 Days, 13 States, 4756 Miles, 94 Hours of Driving Time

Washington and Oregon are the only states I have not visited. This road trip was about visiting specific museums in Colorado and Wyoming but the return trip was crafted to hit ID, MT, and ND and bring my tally up to 48. Someday I'll get out there.
  7. Did you or will you add mudflaps?

RokBlokz and glad I did. I think they're really paying for themselves. Installation has a "system" but once you learn it on the first one the rest are quick and easy.
  8. 12 Days, 13 States, 4756 Miles, 94 Hours of Driving Time

Only on the second to last day, when I drove 12-13 hours and piled on miles, did my back start to hurt. But it's subjective; I like hard seats but other people may not.
  9. 12 Days, 13 States, 4756 Miles, 94 Hours of Driving Time

Yes, that's Garden of the Gods. One purpose of the trip was to visit the National Museum of WWII Aviation in Colorado Springs so we were there and that is an easy side quest. I slept in the bed about 1/2 the trip. The Softopper is good but has a couple of flaws. I give it an 8.5/10. It...
  10. 12 Days, 13 States, 4756 Miles, 94 Hours of Driving Time

In my defense, I really have no dog in this fight. I chose the Ecoboost because I just got out of a bad relationship with a complicated, expensive, sporty car and just wanted the simplest thing I could find. I really don't give a hoot about the mileage since it's not bad and the Maverick takes...
  11. 12 Days, 13 States, 4756 Miles, 94 Hours of Driving Time

Dump of more esoteric photos from the trip:
  12. 12 Days, 13 States, 4756 Miles, 94 Hours of Driving Time

When I added that to the query, Chat changed its mind to the Hybrid unless above 8,000 feet or towing. Hey, I admitted I'm no expert.
  13. 12 Days, 13 States, 4756 Miles, 94 Hours of Driving Time

I'm no truck expert but Chat seems to agree... "For a long road trip with lots of highway driving plus extended mountain trails and off-road travel, I’d choose the 2.0 EcoBoost with the 4K Tow Package over the hybrid. Why the EcoBoost + 4K package is better suited here 1. Mountain performance...
  14. 12 Days, 13 States, 4756 Miles, 94 Hours of Driving Time

I had someone DM me regarding this thread but the DM was "closed for new replies" so I'm answering it here: The top can be found here: https://softopper.com/products/?vid=181230&page=1 We have a few threads on them, here's one...
  15. 12 Days, 13 States, 4756 Miles, 94 Hours of Driving Time

It was kind of a bucket list thing to go there. Not originally part of the plan but I was sort of close.
  16. 12 Days, 13 States, 4756 Miles, 94 Hours of Driving Time

Some photos of the trip I just finished, in no particular order. OH, IN, IL, MO, KS, CO, UT, WY, ID, MT, ND, MN, WI, IL, OH.
  17. How is your Ecoboost doing on MPG?

Got my Maverick in late December. After 5000 miles I'm hovering around 21mpg. I'm a little disappointed but I suspect the optimistic MPG rating is based on running in "Eco" mode with the start/stop feature engaged. The weather here has had me in "Slippery" mode most of time vs. "Eco" and I...
  18. 3D print CD player mount

    Tinkercad and a digital caliper.
  19. 3D print CD player mount

I have that option and Spotify, etc. but I also happen to own several hundred CDs that I enjoy listening to.
  20. 3D print CD player mount

There's no place in the interior to set this CD player I bought so I 3D printed this little tray. The round bit fits snuggly in the cigarette lighter and suspends the player up out of the way without taking up any storage space.
