Why would I want to get a new Maverick?

I have been on this forum going on 4 years. I'm amazed how many people replace a vehicle as soon as it's a few years old. Especially a truck! I can see a work truck, but a Maverick is not a "work truck", it's a fun truck. Fits in a garage, pulls a fun type trailer, (small boat, camper, snowmobile etc) fits the whole family, and looks the same as a 6 year old Maverick. Not to mention a new one cost at least 8K more just to say I have a new truck!
:geek: :p I think some people are trying to show they have money. Not meaning to sound like a smart a**, but I’ll have mine for a long time to come.

If I had a first run 2022 I’d move up to a 2026 or wait for a 2027
I trade in at 4-5 years, bout 80-90,000 miles
Just because I can.
And because I would not own one of these newer way over engineered modern vehicles without it being under an extended warranty.

Plus being one of these fine China total out too easy unibodies I pay an extra $80 a year on insurance that states I get a zero mile never titled new replacement if I total it within five years. That covers all price increases on an AWD Lariat of equal trim or higher.
So I will sell or trade before that five year option on my policy expires.

No one handed me anything. I bought my first car 65 Mustang convertible at 15 1/2 years old with my own money, paid my own insurance.
I bought second car when I was 17 years old still in high school it was a 70 Challenger it was financed $37 a month insurance at that time was $793 a year for full coverage.
I worked/earned my $$$.
I'm going to enjoy it, as little or as MUCH as I see see fit.
I bought an XLT instead of an XL.
Does mean that I have more money than sense?
We live comfortably.
We have never wanted for anything. I guess I'll continue without apology.
I've have no reason to leave it to anyone.

People do what they do. Some people who hate washing dishes only use disposable plates and cutlery. Some people treat vehicles the same way, who cares? It’s not like they are sending them straight to the scrap yard, someone else will drive it.

for people upside down on loans, yeah it’s dumb. For people with money, if they want to spend it, that’s their business.

To each his own, not subject to the approval of others.

I traded my 2022 XLT FX4 (2021 build) in on a 2025 Tremor (pre-GPF) model. Factory warranty on my 2022 was expired and I got back over 75% of sticker on trade without the hassle if a private sale. With the 2026s coming the discounts were at a good spot on the 2025 Tremors - so the gap (which I paid cash) was perfectly acceptable to me for a brand new updated and upgraded truck - less than if I would have leased the FX4 for same 4 years. That being said, I have no plans to trade this one off anytime soon (but if a Maverick Raptor hits the US market all bets are off 😆). I love the Maverick platform, it is the best of all worlds for me.

For those of us in the "boomer" generation, we worked decades to get what we have, put kids thru school, paid our taxes, etc. Just looked at my investment account, it's up $10.5K just TODAY. My new vehicles are paid for with dividends and interest.

Reminds me a lot of the demographics for my 1st new car, a 2006 Scion xB. Marketed to 1st time car buyers, pretty much all I saw were Gen X and boomers who flocked to it for the price, mpgs and utility for it's size. All the millennials went for the sportier tC coupe.

The Honda Element was the same way. It was a huge hit with older buyers.

My reason I have an older 150 I use as a "work" truck it gets about 15mpg going down hill. Maverick is great for small hauling and great mpg

Our family keeps them as long as we can. Plymouth Voyager we had for 15 years, Pontiac sunbird we had for 14, Toyota Camry we had for 15, Toyota Corolla we've had for 16. I hope to get at least 10-12 out of my Maverick. We have had other cars, but one I bought for 700 bucks that lasted 4 years but eventually it fell apart, another one I paid $300 for and had that for 3 years but it never saw anything other than City drive as I was afraid to go faster than 40 miles an hour. And then a couple were in accidents so or two doors and replaced when we had kids.

I buy on the A/Z plan and pay cash so no interest paid ever. Since 2021 I have bought:

2021 Bronco Sport Big Bend and kept less than a year and sold to Carvana for more than I paid total OTD

2022 Bronco Sport Outer Banks kept less than a year and also sold to Carvana for more than I paid total OTD

2023 Maverick XLT hybrid kept for 9 months and traded in for what I paid on the next Maverick that I had originally ordered

2023 Maverick XLT hybrid that I ordered a year earlier and kept for 18 months and traded in for what I paid for it.

2025 Escape PHEV that was a smoking deal with over $12K in rebates and kept that for 6 months(A-plan minimum) and sold to Carvana for what I paid total OTD

2025 Maverick XLT Eco AWD purchased on A-plan including $2K in rebates which I have had for 2 weeks.

5 years, 6 new vehicles, Drove the first 5 basically for free.
Dang, I would have trouble at the Costco parking lot remembering what I was driving!
