How sad to on
I bought mine because:

1) It's very affordable, and I only financed around 50% of the purchase price.

2) Growing up in the 90s I could not afford to hop on the mini-truck trend, now I can.

3) You only have ONE life, enjoy it! I will be enjoying this truck for many years to come.
ly have one life or for it to end

My wife and I have split our time in Mexico and the USA since Dec 2005. We've lived much more of that full time in Mexico. When we are in the USA, we have two vehicles. When we are in Mexico, we only have one. We've noted that we don't really suffer in Mexico with one vehicle as we always have a scooter or motorcycle for me to use for small errands.

When in the USA, we live in a community that permits golf carts (electric or gas) and all manner of scooters on public roads. So, we are thinking... Really in the USA, we only need 1 vehicle if I have a golf cart/scooter available to me for short 10 mile round trip errands.

So, we've decided that the CRV (wife's) and Frontier (me) will go... and they will be replaced by a Maverick (functionality of both the CRV and Frontier) and a cheap electric golf cart (will be a fun DIY restoration project for me). Will sell both vehicles and add other money.... so probably finance the Maverick for like 24 months (the honeymoon period where it requires almost zero repairs).

Will get EB AWD 4K SIBL XLT so that we can occasionally tow a utility trailer or pop-up camper with a load in the bed comfortably (without struggling at AZ/Utah/Sonora high elevations). Just need those order banks to open up again. (I missed the order banks, but not for lack of trying... I've posted about it before).

This is affordable and fulfills our needs.

I ordered because my full size is getting up there in miles and I don't want to spend $60k to replace it right now. A cheap little pick up for my every day stuff will save miles on the full size so I won't need to replace it as soon. Also, as my full size has gotten up there in mileage it's gone from averaging 16 mpg to around 12-13 mpg. Since I put 25,000 or so miles a year on my rigs, the gas savings alone will nearly pay for the Maverick.

Hi,

Can't afford & don't need an F150, don't like the current Ranger and can't wait for the 2024. I am tired of stuffing my 2012 Focus with sticky bee equipment and live bees. Will be nice to have more room for my bee hobby & the occasional 4X8, etc

I've been waiting almost 40 years for a vehicle that would provide the functionality and efficiency I had in my 1981 Courier 2.3. The Maverick is the first one to not only do it, but provide many more creature comforts at the same time. Yes, it's bed is smaller, but will still carry 1500 lbs., 5 people, and meets my current needs.
I also fondly remember that 4-speed manual trans Courier. My dad got an extra vehicle on the executive lease plan and it was $75/month. Brown paint, brown vinyl bench seat, easy clutch for me to learn as a teen, fun, and efficient! Very fond memories.

Here was my dilemma for the longest time.

Weekdays: need an economical commuter/grocery-getter/kid shuttle as a 2nd vehicle because young, active family with kids living in a busy suburb with traffic, tight roads, limited parking.

Weekends: same family likes to go a fair distance into the wilderness on forest service/logging roads potentially with mud and snow to hike, canoe, camp, snowshoe, etc. Lots of wet dirty gear. When not playing, can be found at Home Depot and Ikea because we're big DIYers.

Have a Volvo XC60. Great for date nights, pretty good for weekdays, gets beat up on weekends.

NOTHING on the market could solve for this problem until I saw the Maverick Tremor. Ordered one the day the banks opened. I think I'm the target demographic.

I'm buying one because:
- Being shorter than avg, I want/need to sit up higher in a vehicle for better visibility while driving.
- While I want to be up higher, I don't want to have to climb up into a vehicle.
- I like that I can easily see into the bed of the truck.
- It is more affordable than other options I was considering.
- I like the styling and appearance.
Compared to my MY2015 Honda Fit that was replaced by the Maverick my reasons for purchasing my MY22 Maverick XLT Hybrid on 12/13/2021 were these:

- I sit up higher for better visibility while driving
- The Maverick seats are right height for me. No climbing up or falling into it like the Fit
- I like that I can easily see and reach into the bed of the truck
- I like the styling and appearance. I.E It looks like a Truck
- Much more safer than my Fit with Co-Pilot 360 Blind Spot and Cross-Traffic detection
- Better fuel economy being a Hybrid
- I have a truck again for truck work as I missed my 1998 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab
- The Maverick fits in my Garage
- Having Android Auto is fantastic compared to the garbage that the Fit had
- 0% 3 year Ford Credit Loan, purchase price was 1.8% below MSRP
- Gots lots of FordPass Points buying the Maverick (42,000) along with putting $3000 down on the FordPass Visa Card (30,000) plus bonus of (11,000) and $100 credit. All told free $515
- No interest payments for entire purchase, FordPass $3000 paid in full, $5068 other cash down payment, financed $18,000.21 for 36 months at 0%
- Very affordable compared to other trucks and purchase sticker price was only $24,174 or only $3904 over my 1998 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab of $20,270. In those 24 years only a $163 yearly increase.

1. It's a very affordable pickup truck (car payment isn't a house payment)
2. As a homeowner, it's handy to have a pickup truck for trash/yard waste trips to the transfer station, trips to Home Depot/Lowe's, etc.
3. I've never had the new car as my primary vehicle (always let the wife have it; my choice) and with the kids out of the house, our disposable income has increased slightly.
4. The gas mileage on the hybrid is great. I'll take 40 mpg for a small pickup any day.

I’ve been driving the same car since I turned 16 half a lifetime ago, and it’s a compact SUV with ~17mpg now. Since I do a ~1500 mile trip every couple months, having something more fuel efficient and comfortable is probably long overdue.

A Maverick is on the list since it fits my budget (max $40k) with the features I need (solid mpg, heated seats, adaptive cruise, decently adjusteable seats, hold a tall group). It has the added utility of a bed, which I’ll use for some Home Depot runs but isn’t a necessity.

It isn’t alone on the list. An Equinox EV sounds like it may make it come 2024, around when the 1500 mile trips will end. The 2023 Escape Phev also seems interesting, so I’m on a waitlist there as well. While they don’t have the bed, they have the added utility of saving me some cash while likely having slightly nicer interiors.

If the hybrid Maverick wait takes too long, it’s on to the next one. I’ve been trying to get one for ~11 months now, with 6-24 months of wait left.

After living 76 years and having bought around 100 new vehicles for family and business, I pose the question, “Why would you buy a Maverick?” Before I answer it, let me share an insight my old dad gave me when I was a kid. It has 3 things to it and he aced Economics although he never finished High School.
  • Only buy what you can afford.
  • Only buy what you need.
  • Only buy what you want when you can afford it and if you think you need it.
Now to the answer to my question. A lot of people on the forum go to long explanations why a Corolla with a trailer will do what a Maverick will do, why some other vehicle is better, etc. The answer is very simple. If you only need a car, buy a car. If you need a 1 ton pickup and can afford it, buy a 1 ton pickup. If you want a $150K sports car and can afford it, buy it. But there is no need to go to great lengths to compare any of them to a Maverick. It is a small truck that is very affordable and designed to do what a small truck is designed to do – plain and simple.
Why?

Prior to the Maverick, I was looking for the following:
1) Small truck with a TRUE hybrid with MPG close to my PriusV (wagon);
2) Affordable hybrid without breaking the pocketbook;
3) Room to transport my Great Pyrenees along with lots of cargo

At $20K for a BASE Hybrid and meeting all my requirements, it was a no-brainer.
Decided to load it all the up (ordered Lariat Hybrid FE), signing up for $37K including fees/taxes/etc.

I am more technology loyal then brand or vehicle loyal. That's why the Maverick 2.5 Hybrid marriage excited me because it was done right in providing all that I wanted.

I hope I get the Maverick but at 14+ months for a hybrid, I am starting to lose faith. At least I am not alone in that boat which is some comfort. Mine isn't really replacing anything directly, but it will do summer duty, similar to what my purchased new 1997 4.0 4x4 Ranger supercab now does for the winter. Almost the exact same exterior dimension. Being below average vertically, not so much horizontally;), I always appreciated that even with the 31" tire option and factory body lift, I could access the bed reasonably well. I still have the Ranger at only 94k miles but it has been a winter and woods duty truck for several years. The big novelty with the Maverick will be more power and more than double the fuel mileage. The old Ranger does like gasoline, but it has never left me stranded, aside from the almost constant check engine light, shaky electrics and things like that. This IS planned to be my final brand new vehicle but never say never ya know.

For me, I'm getting rid of a 12 f150.

I just don't need that big of a truck anymore that is a pain to park.

Since I have a Colorado for a work truck, I've gotten used to making the smaller bed work, it just takes some organization plus driving a smaller truck daily is easy to do.

For a personal vehicle, decent gas milage for the Ecoboost, 4 doors, I bike, hike and kayak plus I go up the mountains to visit friends that have crappy dirt roads so awd.

I don't really ever tow with my personal vehicle but got the 4k towing because I like to have the option.

For me I wasn't looking for cheap, I was looking for a small truck that fit what I wanted and I liked the styling on the mav

I'm 76yo and I currently have two Mavericks. I don't need either one. But hey, each has totally different specs than the other. I'm just trying them out. Oh sure, a great rationalization that is...

I had to replace my 20 year old 02 Ford Ranger. Now let's see if the 22 Maverick can go 20 years.
