I couldn't agree more--I'm 83 and was brought up by my Grandfather whos philosophy was if you can't pay for it you don't need it. Well I have a F250 6.7 for hauling-a fully decked Ranger for road trips and I wanted a small run around for everyday use-along comes the Maverick at a price point I could afford! I got the Tremor package because the ranch is 1/2 mile off the paved highway and I might need it someday if the weather sucks and I run out of milk and bread! I can actually get in and out of the Maverick without a fight and everything about it was designed with me in mind. My only bitch is spending $3k for an off road package that didn't include mud flaps!! WTF!
Gotta love it my friend. Almost enough to take it back because of no mudflaps, right. LOL.

I am 70 years old and went to buy a Ranger 3 years ago. After sitting in it I was not comfortable in it and actually hated it. I have had 7 rangers over the years and liked them all but I hated the new one. Bought something else in then I heard about the Maverick. Found one at Southgate Ford and ordered one on the spot. Almost 14 months later I finally got it and in my opinion it was worth the wait. Like the OP said you have to buy what you can afford, want and need and the Maverick meets all three for me. My XLT, EB, 4K Towing is one of the best vehicles I have owned. Just my opinion.

Because I have been driving the same Mazda B3000 since December 1999. Regular cab, 2WD, vinyl seats and rubber mats. Roll up windows and no cruise control. It has never left me stranded, but she has been rode hard and put away wet. Rust has taken hold.

I live on a small farm. Twice a day I have to feed 7 horses, 44 cattle, 56 sheep and 22 goats. Ducks, chickens and a pair of pheasants. I also need to inspect the electric fencing before I turn the animals out - the blessed deer often knock some down. The animals are spread out so I drive 4-8 miles each day around the farm. I need to haul grain, minerals, fencing tools and hay. I need a small truck so I can reach the entire bed easily. Actually, I need two small trucks, because my wife needs her own, she tends to drive off in mine so she got her own,

The Maverick is the only current production truck that I can reach the entire bed standing on the ground and get 30+ MPG. The fact that the Maverick is also an awesome, comfortable highway cruiser is just gravy.

Looks like when the engineers designed the Maverick, they had you in mind. Isn't it amazing that once or twice in a lifetime something comes along that is almost perfect for what we need. Glad you were smart enough to get her one and you one. I only have one now, but have another ordered. Maybe when it comes in, I will have one since my other one is about taken away by my wife.

After living 76 years and having bought around 100 new vehicles for family and business, I pose the question, “Why would you buy a Maverick?”
Who needs a reason when its Maverick season!

We went with a Maverick because we've spent years living with compact sedans and hatches, along with SUVs while saying "Wouldn't it be nice to have a truck?" Yet never being able to stomach the, frankly, horrific shortcomings that most trucks have. The notion of owning a cumbersome, extremely inefficient, expensive, and crude vehicle that only came into its own for the few times a year where we needed it sounded maddening and extremely idiotic to me.

But then the maverick came along, and introduced us, and countless other individuals to the notion of guilt free truck ownership. Suddenly, you could experience a truck that was far more fuel efficient than our Kia Rio compact, which probably gets about 26-28 mpg in the city. Offered stellar performance and handling along with a decent, if slightly firm ride. Wrapped in a decent looking exterior, with a fun and character filled interior. With the added benefit of an 8 year warranty, and a hybrid powertrain renowned for it's longevity.

Basically, the maverick can't be beaten, by any new vehicle selling for less than 30k in terms of offering a compelling, well rounded vehicle. We would know, we looked at virtually everything, civics, souls, cx-5s, Mazda 3, corollas, optimas, Sante cruzs, escapes, rav 4s. There is nothing that can touch the maverick right now in the entry level space. Frankly, nothing even comes close.

My decision was based on a need for this size truck with a fairly roomy cab, gas mileage, and cost. As old as I am, I went from buying new cars in my youth to buying used cars at auctions. This and the 2 door 2022 bronco picked up in March have been our first new cars/ (truck) since 1997.

Gotta love this piece - articulate, well written and lays out all of the right reasons for buying a Maverick. Glad you are a part of the Maverick family and know that you will continue your enjoyment for years to come. Your decision reflects a common-sensical approach - practicality, affordability and enjoyment.

I got mine because I needed a semi commuter car/truck with decent gas mileage and able to run errands. I did the research and looked at quite a few rides that just didn't fit the bill. The price and mileage and styling was what struck my eye. Plus 38 MPG average. My total came out to less than I spent on a Honda CRV almost 6 years ago. It was not the easiest process and I am waiting for delivery, but my last Ford has 240,000 miles. The Honda is in the shop again..........BS from the dealer...no more Hondas for me EVER.

I've wanted a fuel efficient truck since 2012. Drove a Frontier 2.4L XE 5sp from 2002 until 2012 then could not find an American made 4 door truck that had a good enough gas mileage (all 6 cylinders back then).

Settled for a Focus SE 5sp 5 door w/Sport Package for the last 10 years. It has been a great car (190K miles) but when I saw a Maverick Hybrid at the dealer last summer it was love at first sight. Literally did a Tim the Tool Man "Uaaarrrrggggg, I gotta have one of those!"

Five passenger, truck bed, MPG, great price, modern conveniences and safety features, drives and parks like a car but does more than enough truck stuff for my needs.

Can't wait!

Yep the well rounded vehicle selling under 30K consideration is what sold me on the truck, that and my regular daily driver decided to give up the ghost earlier in the year so I was not by my choice in the market for another vehicle.
