these are the exact types of real world responses I was looking to get I wasn't here putting down the CVT trans I just wanted to learn about this truck since I can't go test drive on your responses are great I really appreciate it and so do many others I'm sureI've had my hybrid a little over three weeks. I have used sport mode once just to see what it felt like. It is definitely more aggressive and it does simulate gear shifts like a standard transmission. You wouldn't know you were in an eCVT. That being said I never use it because I bought this vehicle to get 45mpg+ on my daily commute to work. But I know its there if I want or need it. Like many have said though, the hybrid has more than enough power even in eco mode that i never worry about passing/ merging/ sudden acceleration. In my opinion, don't worry about the eCVT. This truck is fun to drive.
Sport mode is definitely peppy. But I actually don't like the simulated shift points. Seems it would negate some of the efficiencies of an (e)CVT trannySomeone talk to me about their experience in the hybrid with sport mode and the simulating gear shifts very interested in that and your experience
I'm bad at punctuation.Spacebar broken????
Sport mode essentially keeps the gas engine on most of the time and gives a VERY linear acceleration input feel, where Normal mode has a more gradual acceleration input curve and would be doing the regular hybrid thing where the ICE and battery-only power are constantly cycling back and forth based on the need.these are the exact types of real world responses I was looking to get I wasn't here putting down the CVT trans I just wanted to learn about this truck since I can't go test drive on your responses are great I really appreciate it and so do many others I'm sure
curious what the gas mileage difference in sport mode would be compared to normal mode or eco mode
they're still great numbers in my book I seen a video of sport mode and it literally sounded like it was shifting gearsSport mode essentially keeps the gas engine on most of the time and gives a VERY linear acceleration input feel, where Normal mode has a more gradual acceleration input curve and would be doing the regular hybrid thing where the ICE and battery-only power are constantly cycling back and forth based on the need.
There have been at least a couple good user tests posted on here where they did a full tank on Normal, then ECO, then Sport, and compared the MPG. They found that the difference was apparent but not extreme. I tried to search for the thread but I didn't find it. If I had to pull a guesstimate memory out of my butt, ECO was like 43, normal was 41, and Sport was 37. Something like that.
Yeah I don't understand the point of the fake shifting.they're still great numbers in my book I seen a video of sport mode and it literally sounded like it was shifting gears
I'd honestly like to know what it feels likeYeah I don't understand the point of the fake shifting.
Yikes. Definition of a bad day that could have been worse.Planetary Gearset Trivia: The planetary gearset is-was used in the C-130 Hercules I flew for two decades. In that installation it handled 4,300 HP from the Allison engines with high reliability. Although a friend did have one disintegrate in flight over the Atlantic. The gearbox seized and the propellers separated and took out several engines (and went through the fuselage). He barely made it back intact to land in Boston. The wing caught fire and melted through shortly after he landed.
"Economically speaking" there is no reason to buy the ICE. Functionally, you might need or want it, but it's always more expensive and less efficient. If your a city driver with a lot of stop and go ,Economically speaking you are going to average at least 10MPG over the eco with the hybrid the hybrid shines in heavy stop and go. ... I have an Eco and avg apx 27.5 MPG 70% in town driving the rest HWY. If you are a highway driver I would say eco . More power ,smoother drive .I don't personally buy into the Hybrid problems, yes they are real ,but one can wonder how prevalent? I know 2 people who have Hybrids and love them with no issues. I wanted all wheel drive to tow my little 17 foot flats skiff as some boat ramps I use are slick. I love my ECO .
..I don’t have a Maverick yet, but my wife has a hybrid RAV4, and I can describe it in two words: Smooth power. Ford and Toyota cross-license a lot of hybrid technology, and the RAV4 has a very similar eCVT.
It feels like a traditional automatic transmissionI'd honestly like to know what it feels like
At 75mph you do not really hear the engine/eCVT, you mostly hear wind noise. My main complaint about my Maverick is actually the wind noise at highway speeds, its worse than any other vehicle I have driven (mostly sedans and small SUVs), and heaven help you if its windy outside. The eCVT has plenty of power for passing at highway speeds or accelerating from an on ramp. What's everyone's thoughts on the e c v t in the hybrid I never liked them before I had a Ford Windstar with a CVT in it and it always sounded like it was screaming at Full Throttle never liked it leaning towards the 8-speed anybody's got any experience with it tell me what you think
