The ecvt is very refined, and the hybrid has plenty of power.
Now only if they made an awd hybrid.... No doubt I would have bought it

My previous car was a 2012 Ford focus with a non turbo manual 5 speed.

I really like the eCVT transmission. I never feel like I have a lack of power. I am having to relearn how to judge how fast I'm going because the engine sound doesn't match the speed, unlike my previous 5 speed. Before: "if it sounds like this I'm going about 60."

Now, the engine sound is pretty much related to how much the gas pedal is pressed. 0-10% might get no engine sound. 10-50% typically gets a nice sounding (for a 4 banger) acceleration sound. 50-100% haven't done this much, but I'm not a fan of the way this sounds. That's where the drone lies. That said, I haven't felt the need to do this often. I'm not a slow poke, but I don't gun it either.

That said, I think the tech is brilliant. What if you could place an ICE in the ideal RPM for either effeciency or for power (or a combination) and never lose time shifting? That's what this tranny does. I think that's the reason it's almost as fast as the EB.

Other perks... My current oil change estimate, according to the Ford pass app, is January, 2023 with 8000 miles. I'm going to change it before then, but man, that's crazy. Also, I'm anticipating less frequent brake jobs.

The Maverick hybrid is a great choice for me. I haul tubas and drums 5-6 times a year. My family of 4 fits comfortably. If I really need to tow something large, I'll rent with the money I save.

At first, I told the dealer that I didn't want the hybrid because of the CVT. Then, I did research, when I actually placed my order I ordered the eCVT. I'm hoping for better reliability. There's less moving parts to break. Yes, the battery may weaken over time, but I have read that's something that has gotten better recent years. And if it does lose some charge, it's not like the car is totaled, it just becomes less efficient. Also, they can be replaced and, who knows, when it finally needs replacing maybe we'll have a solid state alternative that'll be way cheaper or will drive the current technology price down.

For the first 1000k miles on my eCVT I was a bit obsessive about figuring out how the thing works. How fast can I go on electric only? (Usually 20) what's the instant MPG on the highway? (Unsurprisingly, about 30). What's the fastest speed I can get electric only? (75 with a tail wind) How do I get %100 on brake coach? (Feather the brakes until about 10mph). What's the best speed for mpg? (My experience, 30 mph).

Now though, the transmission has disappeared. I miss my 5 speed because I love the involvement. That said, my driving habit has been right hand Lane, cruise control, speed limit. This truck does that easily. I've never craved more power. I have stomped on it a couple times and there's plenty when I want it. Now that I've learned all I want, I just drive it.

The EB owners might say, "but it's the same on the highway." I'm getting an indicated 46 mpg, including some highway and my regular commute... Ya ain't doin that in that there Ecoboost. 🤣

If you're ever in DFW, TX, send me a message. You can meet me and I'll ride shotgun for a short test drive.

It cruises fine at 79. Engine isn't that loud at all. On a trip to Denver and back, 440 miles one way, I got over 37 at 79 with the cruise on. eCVT was flawless, excellent driving experience all around. When driving I don't really know when it switches from electric to engine and back. It's flawless. The only time I know the engine cuts in is sitting still at a light or in park, sometimes at low speed but at low speed it's probably on electric anyway. I just get in and drive. I get 44+ driving around town and that includes some interstate driving. I had no problems with the braking. I had that nailed by the time I got home from the dealership but all cars are a little different in braking, you get it sorted out quickly. I can get on the interstates with no problem. Usually I'm stuck behind people who think it's normal to enter the interstate at 50. Drives me crazy!

I've actually been shocked how seamless everything works together.
thank you for the opinion and your experience I really appreciate it just didn't like how people got on me for not using the search button when I actually have done my homework and wanted to hear from real live owners with their experiences hope you have a great weekend thanks for your input

I have been driving my mav hybrid for about 2500 miles so far and I can say it is very smooth. Previously had the CR-V hybrid with cvt transmission and would experience the rubber band effect when flooring it to pass someone. Tried flooring it with the mav and I did not experience the rubber band effect.

Anyone have any experience with this I've read this more than once seems very interesting

since the link I posted was band I'm referring to sport mode which simulates gear shifting very interested in people who have experienced this I would love to hear your input

No problem. Forum is for discourse.... It's not github where someone should be expected to RTFM or use the search before you post... FORUMS are a public meeting place for discussion. That said, with discussion, comes the good, the bad, and the a**holes. 🤣 I just try my best to be the former and if everyone does the same we usually end up with a good little place to be.... With occasional unpleasantries.

I've read the Hybrid reviews I've read the problems they have with them too breaking at slow speeds lighten up Francis. Glowing catalytic converter, what else should I know about, idle going up and down what else
They have a tsb out that fixes all those issues you mentioned.

The Hybrid system will be more reliable. It has less components than the ecoboost, and the engine is running atkinson cycle, so it sees little strain. eCVT transmission haf far fewer components than the I think 8 speed transmission the ecoboost has.

I have an XLT hybrid. The engine is very quiet under normal operation.

It kind of sounds grainy but not annoying under load. I haven’t really gone flat out though.

Transmission is smooth/linear, doesn’t feel like it struggles ever.

I've had my hybrid a little over three weeks. I have used sport mode once just to see what it felt like. It is definitely more aggressive and it does simulate gear shifts like a standard transmission. You wouldn't know you were in an eCVT. That being said I never use it because I bought this vehicle to get 45mpg+ on my daily commute to work. But I know its there if I want or need it. Like many have said though, the hybrid has more than enough power even in eco mode that i never worry about passing/ merging/ sudden acceleration. In my opinion, don't worry about the eCVT. This truck is fun to drive.
