I have had my Lariat 2.0 AWD 4k tow for 3 months and 5000 miles and averaging 29pmg. I drive 80% highway. I am running full synthetic oil and Shell gas.

I am not pleased with my MY24 XLT AWD 4K Tow. Ford dealers can find "no problem" I can guarantee it is not my driving/weather/fuel. My MY23 XLT AWD w/o 4k tow would average in the 30s hwy and 25's cty. I am averageing under 17 MPG. I love everything else about the truck.

The Maverick 2.0 gas tank is only 16.5 gallons and I see you put in 17.555 one fill up? I run mine down to 50 miles left and never put in more than 15 gallons. I think you gas station is ripping you off.

Yeah I recently read that you can overfill them really easily and that you put like a half gallon in the evap container If you try to "top it off" so I'm not going to be doing that anymore. I still don't think it could account for the bad mpg

Hey, I just ordered a 2024 Maverick with the 2.0 EcoBoost with AWD and the 4K Tow Package. I did a few months of research on the truck, but I still feel like there are some Grey areas when it comes to the real world MPG. I'm set on this truck, but I was wondering what MPG people were getting with the 2.0L EcoBoost so I have an idea when the truck arrives. I'll be happy to take numbers from people with 2022 and 2023 model years with similar packages. Thank you so much for any information you can provide!!!
I am at 53000 kms and have never rest the fuel economy screen, I have probably 15000 kms of towing my team drop trailer and lots of time on high elevation mountain roads getting to hiking trails and I have an average of 9 L per 100 or 26mpg ish

Coming back from my cabin yesterday, it was a hot day, about 87 degrees on the highway, had a nice 10-20 mph tailwind, running 70-75 mph, 87 gas, under 500 lbs total cargo, averaged 33 for the 90 mile trip. 🤠

33 is my best tank highway, usually around 31. Combined driving, I get about 22. Towing low 20s, or upper teens.

Only 500 miles but I'm averaging 24.4 driving almost exclusively on town and country roads with speed limits under 50. The first 272 miles was measured at 23.49 and the guess-o-meter said 23.5, not bad.

TLDR fuel mileage terrible, I'm mad about it
I called Ford customer service the other day. They are going to send Master tech to the dealership to check it out next time earliest I could get was June 17th
I don't care If there are no ECU trouble codes something's freaking wrong.
2024 Ford Maverick XLT AWD 4K tow
Total mileage 5,056.5 2mi till empty
Truck reads 12.2 mpg (ran 92 octane every tank since new)
Trip odo 187.2 mi / 15.910 gallons =11.77 MPG calculated.
New all time low MPG regular mixed driving 100 mi highway. The Maverick is in second place of least fuel efficient vehicle I own.
I can't believe I traded in my 2023 XLT AWD in for it, and waited two years. Unfcking believable I am so frustrated. Hopefully Ford can figure it out. Thanks for letting me vent.

Btw other cars I own/drive from least fuel efficient to most based on my calculator average MPGs

2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1 ton dually gas 8.3 l
13 MPG
2024 Ford Maverick XLT AWD 4K tow 16 MPG
1978 Firebird Trans Am 6.6 l
17 mpg
1978 Trans Am same as above
1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3 l 22 MPG
2007 Mitsubishi outlander 3.0 l 25 mpg
1999 Trans Am WS6 5.7 l LS 27 MPG
1971 Datsun 521 pickup L20B 2.0 l 29 MPG

I really only started paying attention to this over the last couple thousand miles, but you can get some really interesting mileage results out of the 4k tow awd ecoboost.

32+ MPG is definitely doable if you absolutely minimize braking and do a little bit of hypermiling (gunning it hard down hills and coasting up the next one) in hilly stretches of highway. Even with the throttle and brake control, if you start boosting hard in the 2.0 with that 4k tow gear ratio your mileage will go into the sink. I actually tuned the engine/transmission for more performance with 93 oct recently and to my surprise, the tune made getting this mpg MUCH easier (maybe you don't spend as long in boost during accelerations?).

29s-31s are achievable with normal, reasonable driving at 55-75 on the right to middle lane. If you end up cruising on the highway a good chunk under or near 2k in sustained revs, you are doing very little boosting and you will get around the coveted EPA number. Using cruise control with any mode that doesn't inhibit overdrive type shifting to get you under 2k revs will get you similar results usually. I bet the non 4k guys and especially the FWD guys can get pretty close to the hybrid number consistently during highway cruise.

Towing about 3.5k lbs in a bunch of hills got me around mid 14s mpg. Not complaining, and tow/haul mode keeps gear quite well in your ideal torque band (maybe not the efficiency band).

AWD and 4k really murders mpg in stop and go traffic though. I'd be lucky to even see the 23/24 other people are reporting and the low 22s Ford pushes officially seems to make sense. I also fried my auto start-stop for the moment in light of current recalls and that is probably not helping. The 4k gear ratios on top of the crazy conservative shifting at low speeds the 8f35 has for "efficiency" also makes your rpms go all over the place at low speeds.

For humorous comparison the worst MPG I've managed on a fresh trip at "cruising" speeds was around 17 mpg following a short 20 minute period of driving like an idiot over the course of 30-some miles.

Best I ever got was 35.0 mpg. I generally get between 30 - 32 mpg on the highway.

Ours is up from 25.8-26 to 27MPG overall. I think the winter blend gas is out of the stations now. 70% Rural curvy roads and 30% highway mixed driving.

I just took my Maverick down to 50 miles left and filled it with 14.25 gallons of gas. I do stop at the first click and do not try to put more in but I doubt I could get in another 3 gallons. I would try a different gas station for sure.

My overall MPG on an XL AWD w/4k tow for 30k+ miles is 29.8 MPG according to the trip counter. This is also with the stock continental tires. I plan to switch them out soon so new tires may improve or decrease the MPG depending the tread and tire size.
