I am pretty sure that they changed this language at some point to specifically call out that it is included only for the Hybrid. Not what I recall the configurator saying at the time I ordered. I am going to be annoyed if I ordered 4K, FX4 and CoPilot and somehow don't get a full size spare in all that extra $ spent bc I have a 2.0.

I have to say I really do not like these might be hitting the road without a crash test/safety rating to go off. Thats really my main concern at this point.
This happens all the time with new models. Worked at a Subaru store and it was sometimes months before NHTSA posted ratings that showed up on a sticker.

Yea and gas prices are only rising as well. I think its 3.55 here where im at for low octane. And the maverick with the ecoboost should probably be getting high octane. Although ill read what the manual says to use as well. Im guessing the hybrid one will come out very soon if the window for this one just released.
You are correct. Ford.com reports the 2.0’s HP and torque numbers are only achieved with premium fuel.

This makes me happy with my choice of the 2.0 AWD and 4k tow. I expected low twenties, this shows I could probably pull off 28 ish during normal commute! In a truck!

This is only slightly better than the rangers fuel economy, but much better than the ridgeline or tacoma... I don't its a lighter truck and a smaller engine, I'm not sure how this happened.

Well, ratfarts! I read that configurator page 1000 times in the last 2 months and I guess my brain refused to see "included with lux package on HYBRID"

Hah you realize modern journalism is just a matter of checking the forums/instagram/twitter now right? :p
Yup, like how the 'Ford won't stock base trims at dealers' was a flashy headline catching version of Ford is prioritizing delivering retail orders first, which was derived from a Granger post here a few weeks ago. That one got around EVERYWHERE!

Yes and they way things are going I see gas prices going even higher. As much as I’d like to have the 2.0 the hybrid makes more sense for me.
I think the gas savings would be icing on the cake, but not reason enough for me to change vehicles on its own.

The real benefit in my opinion is the Maverick's price. A Maverick XLT 2.0 AWD Lux rings up at right about $31,000. Give or take a few features, a Ranger XLT 4x4 SuperCrew 300A rings up at just shy of $37,000. If you need a make-or-break feature like me (8-way power seat in the Maverick Lux), then that Ranger 302A with the power seat rings up at over $39,000.

Monroney window sticker for a 2022 Maverick XLT reveals:

22 city / 25 combined / 29 highway MPG

Note: good point made by @zackmd1

Keep in mind that the 4K tow package includes a final drive of 3.81 instead of 3.64 so non 4K tow models might break that 30mpg barrier.

For reference -- Santa Cruz's MPG compared:

2.5L I4 -- 21 / 27 mpg (23 mpg combined)
2.5L FWD -- 21 / 26 mpg (23 mpg combined)
2.5T -- 19 / 27 mpg (22 mpg combined)

I'm not so sure about the Maverick fuel economy. I took a screen shot from the Maverick hybrid being shown

I'm a bit suspicious of the 40 mpg claims for the hybrid 2.0 Engine. I took a screen shot of the instrument cluster from the hybrid Maverick being shown on YouTube by Doug DeMuro ( ). It showed it had been driven 800+ miles and averaged 29.9 mpg. That is far short from the 40 mpg being promoted for this vehicle. It seems to me that the 29.9 are the more realistic averages to be expected under normal driving conditions.

Regular 87 octane is running right at $2.80 per gallon here where I live in Florida. Since I am only using Ethanol Free in my vehicle, I've been paying $3.55 for awhile. So I feel your pain.
I read the manual last night, as I recall, the 87 octane is fine... UNLESS you are towing or other extreme demands on the engine... then they recommend Premium - Higher Octane 91 I think it was?

Yes, that is what it says. I'm going by my experience with my previous and current hybrid. They are both regular 87 octane vehicles. They are both rated ar 42-44 MPG but using regular 87 octane I was only realizing 38 MPG. My buddy who had the exact same car said he was using ethanol free and getting 44-45 MPG. So I switched and after 3 tanks of ethanol free I too started getting 44-45 MPG. You can see my Fuelly App in my signature below. That is current as the fill up I made yesterday.

So with my Maverick, I will be using Ethanol Free fuel.
