I am looking at my order page, what does the 4k tow package include? What extras over the standard mav to qualify for the 4k tow rating.

A lot of people seem to ask in hindsight if they can equip a non 4k tow Maverick with the required equipment aftermarket and my suggestion is if you intend to tow more than 2k pounds just pony up for the relatively cheap package. Even if you don't plan on towing more than 2k the added cooling capacity and transmission cooler are worth it for longevity of the engine and transmission.

Go to the Ford Maverick Build website and look at each option to see what is included. Or read the order guide.

Yep, for sure.
Mine was $745 extra on my 22. Would cost what, double that or more to try and retrofit?

I have a 23 with the tow package. I will most likely never tow anything. But you get a lot of bang for your buck.
The increased cooling and gears are a great up grade and I don't think you could add that stuff on your own for the $745.00Ford charges.

Does the gear ratio effect MPG?

It's almost $3K in options to equip the tow package so not really an easy choice to make. Add AWD $2200+4K tow $745 = $2945.

If you are already optioning AWD then yes it an easy choice for $745 but it costs considerably more than that to get the tow package on a "standard" Maverick.

Most of the bolt ons you could probably do pretty easily but the gearing would be a nightmare to change front and rear, plus its still wouldnt have the proper GCWR to legally tow 4k lbs.

different transmission, gear ratio is set by the tranny. rear gear set is the same for both ratios.

Can't quite comprehend why anyone would want a FWD Ecoboost.

I have had a 2022 FWD Ecoboost XLT, a 2023 AWD 4K Lariat, and a 2023 Hybrid XL. The FWD Ecoboost XLT was my least favorite setup. It sounded like the “bowling alley full of bees”. I felt like I had a sewing machine in there. I would never order another FWD Ecoboost. I like the AWD 4K in the Lariat (extra sound dampening) and the hybrid is very quiet even in the XL.

you definitely cannot add it on for anywhere remotely near $745. the only thing you could realistically do is the transmission cooler - aftermarket if factory is expensive / infeasible. even just that I would expect to cost $300-500 to add-on.

It's a 5% change, so you will get 5% more torque and 5% higher revs. What 5% higher revs means I can't tell you, I assume the window sticker shows the new mpg?
