I really suffer from separation anxiety when it comes to my vehicles. When my Estate wagon approached its end of days, and became a lawn decoration., I reluctantly put it on Craigslist, figuring nobody would respond. Wrong!

Many replies, including one from a guy who told me he would enter it in a demo derby. At first I was appalled. What an asshole! Then I figured it would go out like a Gladiator. It took Third Place.

Ford Dealer offered me $6k Canadian on a trade for my 05 GX470 with 160,000km. After I finished laughing so hard at him I dropped it at my Porsche Dealer who consigned it for me and sold it in 2 days for $23k and cut me a cheque for $20,500

You had one of the most reliable vehicles on the planet and they offered you $6k? Ridiculous. Glad you made out on it!

To be fair, dealers are there to make a profit and a used car on their lot only costs them money until it sells. They're not there for doing anyone re-sell favors. Having said that, that's a huge difference between what the Ford dealer offered and what he eventually got for it. Perhaps the Ford sales people are banking on people's demand for the Mav.

Whats sad is that I've had a 25 year relationship with my Ford guy. But yup, he was playing me, he knew that the GX was worth a lot more. I'm not mad at him, its just business.

Well, that puts a different spin on things. They should have treated you better with that kind of history. Clearly, you thought better of the relationship than they did.

Sold my 2012 CRV with 102k miles to carmax and made $34 dollars after the loan was paid off lol. My girlfriend just traded her 2014 CRV with 116k miles for a 19 crosstrek and got nearly a grand more than my selling value lol.

True! She also went to a dealership and I had all the maintenance records which helped with the value. Carmax doesn't negotiate.

I traded in my 2019 Ranger Lariat FX4 for the Maverick. I bought it while waiting for the Mav to come in. I loved it, but it was more truck than I needed. I don't pull anything, didn't offroad it but maybe a couple times and I drive in the city 90% of the time for work and doing honey-do runs to lowes and home depot. It was paid off, so when the dealer called and said hey your Mav just showed up, it was time to let it go.

Dealer honored MSRP for the Mav, so in the end I walked out owning my Mav straight up and the dealer cutting me a check for the difference owed. $28k and change for the Mav out the door and they gave me $35k for the Ranger.

That's a great story! I happened to see a Ranger with this exact color combination of grey w/red accents. Nice looking truck, but yeah, I get that it just doesn't fit your lifestyle. From what you described, the Maverick is the truck for you. Very glad you got your Mav and had a good experience backing out of the Ranger purchase. Sounds like you had a more than fair dealership.
Safe and happy travels.

I am sure many see the large growing bubble in the background about to burst. Whoever is holding the goods when it bursts is not going to be around anymore. Carvana, Carmax, Vroom, and others are paying more for what we know the thing is worth! It is just rusting metal and worn out engines! Oh well history repeats itself.

Ford told me $17,500 for my 2020 Corolla, but I just filled out carvana’s online quote system — they offered $21,200. My truck is being built end of Feb so I have some time. Anyone ever used Carvana? They just bring you a check?

30 years and a month, and 185k+ miles, with Ol’ Greenie. Sad to see it go. Served me well. But the frame is Swiss cheese. Too scared to put any weight in the bed. So why have a truck?
Young lady from Carvana didn’t know how to drive a stick, so I put it on the back of her truck. My bride took the pic, with a tear in her eye. Way more sentimental than me.
Am quite smitten with new Mav, in the foreground. I’m sure that it will outlive me!

I received a $5k quote from KBB, which I thought was reasonable for a 2006 RAV 4 Limited with 168,000 miles that uses a quart of oil between 600 and 1000 miles. Then I said what the hell, I have time, so I listed it in a local paper for $10k and the next day I received several calls, but one guy stood out when he told me that he was having trouble finding sub $15k vehicles for his daughter to go to school and drive back home once a month.

He offered $9k cash money and we went down to the title tag office and transferred the title, and that money went on the Maverick. End of Story.
