I clicked on YouTube about the Maverick Turbo charge engine and they stated that when you started up you should let it out over 30 seconds to a minute and then take off Slo at first and then when you come to stop you should let it idle for 30 seconds or a minute before shutting the engine off. My question is if you drive someplace for two or three or 4 miles. And get out and let’s say go shopping for instance when you come back to your car and start it up again do you have to wait 30 seconds or one minute again before taking off?

The turbo on the Mav uses both water and oil cooling. It does not need to cool down like ancient turbos that were not also watercooled. If you're using the proper oil. the engine does not need a warmup before driving. Ignore the video from a guy who has obviously not driven a modern turbocharged engine.

I feel giving any vehicle 30 seconds or so to warm up is a good practice. And then drive and take it easy (low RPM/load) until your engine oil is up to operating temperature. This might mean a little bit of boost, but wouldn't do much hard acceleration until it's warm.

I don't worry about shutdown cooling, with the only exception of if I had just driven extremely hard just prior to parking...which is usually never. Maybe if I were tracking it and coming into the pits to park, I'd let the vehicle run for a minute before shutting down.

The answer to your question is contained in the video (if you follow it's advise). Were you shopping long enough for your oil to get cold? Probably not. As to weather the video advise is currently worthy.... Maybe somewhat. The car care nut is really a Toyota/Lexus guy and they have not been mainstream turbo users for that many years. Following his advise probably won't hurt as far as warm up/cool down, but is not as imperative in it was in early generations of turbo charged engines. He tends to be ultra conservative in all his advise, but does, IMO know his stuff especially when it comes to Toyota/Lexus.

He may know his "stuff" but he is also a NUT with the goal of spewing endless BS in order to get clicks - AKA ad revenue. I know all this simply by reading what other people post about his videos, never giving this NUT any of my clicks. I don't reinforce click-bait videos and hate that is what the AI overlords (algorithms) have reduced human attention span to.

I’ve got a 23 Eco Boost and one thing I hate with a passion is the fact that the auto stop feature has to be deactivated every single time you start the engine.
Well anyway, the engine turns off at every stoplight and 3 point turnaround unless deactivated so you wouldn’t have any choice as far as warmup or cooldowns anyway.

I remember back in the 90s. Auto manufacturers discouraged towing with turbocharged gas engines. The turbos did not have the cooling technology they do today.

Since you have been around a while, I would assume you know the A/S/S is easily defeatable via a $100 dongle or simple Forscan programming. There may be cheaper devices as well. Anyway, I agree with you and it was the first thing I "modded" on my truck.

But to your point - yes, in the stock setup, the engine could potentially be shutting down, starting back up, and immediately going under load again and again and again during a normal commute. So I guess either Ford purposefully designed in obsolescence, or the YT randos are just being silly for clicks. :inspect:

If ever there was a more obvious reason to give your children the love and attention that they need before becoming attention-starved social media whores, I'm not aware of it.
My friend, you're so eloquent with your wording, I couldn't agree with you more.

BTW this stop/start of the engine all the time is nuts, can someone please point me in the direction? Forscan procedure to disable this behavior, I can't have another device plugged in to the obd port, I have a device already there from my insurance company.

Here's one. It goes on the backside of the OBD so you are able to plug in your insurance checker or diagnostic tool.
