If the door tool had rubber coating on it like his in the video, and he had got it in the first few tries, this would have gone a completely different way.

I am thankful for these examples to use with the case Progressive said they are opening with AAA so I can at least get the damages covered, and maybe even the window I broke so the dude didn't yank my vehicle up on a tow truck incorrectly with skates at a 90 degree angle.

Although I am really upset with how things went (even more since it's snowing outside now), it kinda also leaves me with even more frustration a second level that AAA just tossed a guy in a truck with no training, will possibly fire him for this, and then just repeat with the next person that will do it for the least money with no training. Even if they have to pay out claims like this, it's still cheaper than paying a professional. Seems to be a pattern with everything lately.
Had a similar experience with a Rental, in Pittsburgh, PA, several years ago.
Dude they sent, just drove around town. With his girlfriend tagging along..
I had the forethought, to extract the spare tire...
He arrived, walked right past it and said... "Duh, where's the spare in these things.." :ROFLMAO:

At least, He knew how to use, the electric impact gun. And the "Walmart" 30-piece tool set.
He had stowed in the trunk..

Manually locking one rear door would and should not lock all doors. It has never done that in any car I've owned in close to 40 years since I've been driving.
I have.

2000 or so rental PT Cruiser.

We turned it on to warm up as we loaded, as I was about to drive in a blizzard.

After loading my suitcase into the back, I closed the hatch--and all five doors locked!

We had to wait for Enterprise to show up with another key,.

At least, He knew how to use, the electric impact gun. And the "Walmart" 30-piece tool set.
When my E-150 died, I had to drop the oil pan.

And discovered that Walmart's "Hypertough" wasn't up to "Ford Tough": the side of the socket gave before I had enough torque applied to remove one of the bolts!

They're good enough to be spares, but, like Harbor Freight, not for to be relied upon.

Mostly just a rant thread, and a possible warning for anyone who gets locked out of their vehicle.

[skip the next 2 paragraphs if you don't want to read about me being dumb and ranting]

I was out mountain biking alone today before snow hits and closes the trails down for the year probably. Loaded my bike in the bed when done, threw all my stuff in the back (including my pouch with the key in it, and my phone that I had unlocked the vehicle with). Shut the back door, and the doors all locked.
I carry my spare fob in my bicycle seat bag & test it before before locking the more cumbersome fob inside.

I began that habit after doing what you did:)

I still carry in the Pup.(as I have done with every Ranger). My Original Tool kit I put together, back in 1986..
A Whitlock ( I miss these stores :cautious: ) tool pouch and a Craftsman, 1/4"drive set, plus wrenches, etc...

Has come in handy ..

I went into the Maverick settings and changed my door locking behavior. It now unlocks ALL the doors when I press the keyfob "unlock" once. I haven't explored the other settings.

No it doesn’t randomly lock itself, you likely hit the manual lock switch on the door by mistake. There are a ton of threads about this here, so this happens a lot, and each time it’s the same reason. This is what makes having the keypad so great. I locked my keys in once, but with the keypad I was back in the truck in seconds.
Actually, I have had mine automatically lock itself at least two witnessed times. Both were in my driveway while washing it. The key was not in my pocket so it rules out accidental pushing of buttons which might have accounted for the other couple of times it locked itself.

again, the $30 insurance policy:

Have a dumbkey made at almost any hardware store. Stash it under the pickup. It won't start it up, but it will grant you access to the keys you locked inside that can.

Out of curiosity, is there a Ford customer service that one could call and have them remotely unlock the vehicle, kind of like OnStar? I imagine that since we can unlock it from our app, there would have to be a way to call an 800 number, prove your identity, and have someone hit unlock at Ford.

They could in theory.

But if Fordpass remote access was disabled due to battery level - the modem is off - they can't reach it either.
Or parked where there is no ATT network - but perhaps you have your T-Mobile to make a call or connect for data.

So pretend you never had app setup for remote access.
What info would you have on your phone, or reachable thru a phone call to someone else near paperwork - that would be strong enough proof it's you?

Sure glad you said that.
Mine is not, still double-press to unlock all - normally that's fine.
Also in the habit of NOT pushing door open with hand pulling the door lever, use elbow or knee.

But you just made me realize this morning with 1st snow - jumped in, started truck, got out to brush off snow.

With holding that brush in hand and not normal sequence of events - could have accidentally pushed that lever on door open. The only one open.
At least phone was in pocket - remote unlock would have worked. But still.
It's that interruption to normal habit that is the chance to mess up!

the keypad on my Transit(not Connect) is almost 10 years old and the original battery is just fine.
