With only this budget, what is your PURCHASE? You will drive this vehicle about 85 miles per day with 60high/40 city. 20mpg is the only requirement.
If you were closer to Ohio, I am considering trading in my 2008 Honda Civic Si sedan an my incoming Maverick. I have it for sale for 6500 OBO locally. It has 130K miles and needs nothing. It gets 29-30 mpg all the time and fun to drive. It is black and does have some of the usual Honda clear coat peeling but it is only cosmetic.

UPDATE:

I was texting a member here about his Honda Civic Si and the deal did not happen. I knew I wanted something with decent mpg and fun to drive.

Researched MINIs and test drove them. Waited for the RIGHT deal for me, and purchased a 2007 MINI Cooper S. Good overall condition with VA passed inspection. Paid $8500 OTD. 1.6T 6 speed. This will eat up some mileage from my Maverick.

Darn, I have a 2008 Nissan Sentra I'd sell you for less than your price range. I bought it waiting for my Maverick to get built and got a 6/6 build date a week later...it's a lucky car.

No offense, but I wanted something FUN to drive. A 6 speed M turbo is fun to drive.

Believe me, no offense taken.

You could just buy it, get your build scheduled then maybe sell it forward to an unscheduled June order.

That will be a fun car to have down there. I worked near Roanoke for two years and wish I would have had my Miata down there.
