I think the most likely problem is it's just the cable(s) cut to a little different length during the rush of production and poor quality control.
Well, that must make it true. Because speculation > data.

"If most likely problem" = true, I'd say you're the one with a problem. Whatever is wrong with the tailgate will be fixed under warranty, so no real need for further internet diagnosis anyway.

Dunno, must have been you.
What, by wondering whether anyone had measured a few parts to isolate the issue? Oops, did it again. You must have a pretty bad rash by now!

I did a quick search on the broader internet and here, but didn't find anything.
My tailgate cables are uneven. The left one has a tiny bit of slack, in either position.
I looked at some videos, and it seems like others are this way as well. Is this intentional?
Check these (4) bolts, they may be "eccentric bolts"
If they are you'll be able to adjust them to remove the slack (y)

Can you swap the cables one side to the other? See if the problem stays on the side or if it follows the cable, my guess is if it follows the cable one of them is a little shorter. I bet your service department will order a pair in for you if its the cable thats the problem.
It's not unusual at all for truck tailgates from any manufacturer. Do the sit/stand test on tailgate. Swapping cables as noted above solved the problem on 2 trucks I've owned. On another, adding a 100 lbs or so load to tailgate evened out the cable tension enough so it wasn't a problem. If you do the above and it still is a problem, return to dealer and get them to order you replacements. Just be prepared to wait for them...

Unfortunately, work prohibits me from using any fun fonts (where I am posting from). So I must remain serious at all times. Please forgive me.
