Thank you for taking the time to write up this post and present these rules to us Chops.

THREE and FIVE... Chops just came in here to brag about all that money he has. 91 Octane and full synthetic oil change every 3000 miles... My man has DEEP pockets.
Chill dude, please! I left a truck club when I bought my Mav, because they were a bunch of ‘Debbie Downers’ that had nothing productive to say about ANYTHING! I don’t want to do the same here. 98 % of the folks here are great people, and have great advice, if you don’t agree then prove them wrong, we all have opinions, so let’s just try to help and explain reasonings. Hopping off soap box now! 😔

It can be quite difficult to convey tone through a text post, but for your sake Meeka I'll clarify that I was simply making a joke for laughs. I did not disagree with anything Chops said nor do I have anything to prove.

P.S. you’ve only been here for 4 months, get to know people before you start putting them down! Thank-you Sir, for your attention.

That is good advice, thanks. I did take the last part of his post as a joke - and the first part as a genuine compliment.

Ok, I guess I have to understand what I assume is ‘Sarcasm’ is what others take as ‘funnin’! I’ll just drop it now. 🕊

I did not make the rules silly - I learned them from the experts in the field. I’m not going to drive my first turbo car like a numb skull - that would be dumb.

Just “google” turbo care or watch a video from an expert.

Wait, what? I thought the experts in the field were the engineers that designed the vehicle, not some YouTuber mechanic trying to make a cash grab by making clickbait videos.

None of these “rules” from these “experts” are what the engineers at Ford recommend. And no other manufacturer recommends these steps either, with the exception of high octane fuel in their high compression, high boost and high rpm sports car engines.

These are wives tales, left over from hotrodders in the early days of turbo cars that were modifying their cars beyond the OEM specs and seeing failures.

It’s preposterous to think that 50 years later, an all stock, mild boost, medium rpm economy turbo engine in a people mover needs to follow the same steps as a race prepped 1970’s 911 turbo.

Your belief system on this topic is bordering mythology.

You are correct that modern turbos are much more robust than previous generations. Also, I completely agree with Ford Engineering recommendation of oil changes every 6 to 12 months based on severity of driving.

It is also true that naggers get on people’s nerves. I purposely put that term in the thread title as a gentle warning:)
