I always thought that a trans flush is not a good idea. Dealer said that it's ok unless you have 100K and it's the first service. Your thoughts ?
Typically there is so much clutch debris in old ATF (100K mi+) that it is better just to leave it be instead of flushing it.

I once did an initial drain & fill (not flush) on a ten year old Vibe/Corolla 200K mi+ engine. It shifty jerky for a hundred miles or so. Once the old ATF mixed in with the new it got back to shifting normally. Whew…

The EB transmission holds about 8 quarts, but only drains about 4 quarts with a drain & fill.

Where in the transmission does the other half remain to avoid the drain plug hole?

FYI, RockAuto has the 5-qt jug back in stock, but must buy in quantities of 3.

RockAuto's where I got my one gallon lowest price.
Wow $700 seems like a lot. Was that for just drain and fill on all three (transmission, ptu, rdu) or for flushes? I have a AWD Hybrid so may have to tackle these fluid changes myself.
It's absurd just for a drain and fill on those three units.

It's less than $150 in fluid so that tells you where the rest of the cost is.

If you leave your drain plug out overnight, you will get atleast another quart out of the Transmission. I got 6 quarts out the last couple times I did it.

Nice, I would go Rock Auto for sure then! Based on my research, checking the factory spec sheets, and talking to a local Ford dealer, you don't need a second bottle for the rear diff. 1 bottle of each gear oil is plenty.

I’ve seen a ton of conflicting information online about the fluid amounts, but that's usually because people confuse the total "dry factory capacity" with what actually comes out during a standard service. Just a heads up, I haven't physically done the service on my own Tremor yet (planning to soon), so definitely verify your levels as you fill!

Here are the spec capacities for a standard drain and fill:

  • PTU (Front): The unit is tiny. It only drops around 13 oz. (1 Quart of 75W-85 leaves you plenty extra).
  • RDU (Rear): The total capacity is 28 oz. (1 Quart bottle is 32 oz, so it fills it right to the brim with 4 oz to spare).
  • Transmission (8F35): The total dry capacity is around 8.5 quarts, but a ton of that stays trapped in the torque converter. A standard pan drain-and-fill only drops about 4.5 quarts. (The 5-Quart jug of Mercon ULV covers it perfectly).
Here is the part number breakdown from my order if you want to copy them:

  • MOTORCRAFT XT125QULV Mercon ULV; 5 Quart — $34.79
  • MOTORCRAFT XY75WQL SAE 75W Disconnect Rear Drive Unit Fluid (1 Qt) — $33.79
  • MOTORCRAFT XY75W85QL SAE 75W-85 Premium Synthetic Hypoid Gear Lubricant (1 Qt) — $25.99
I assume these parts are the same for the 2025 hybrid model as well? I plan to change all these before summer is over. Very helpful info, thanks.
