We have a 2024 hybrid Maverick….we see towing max is 2000lbs…..has anyone on here towed anything heavier safely? We are having a hard time finding a travel trailer that fits our family for under 2000lbs.

22 hybrid here. I've been towing a happy camper trailer. It is expensive but light.

without knowing more details, i would summarize (1) you have the wrong truck for what you want to use it for (2) maybe consider renting a more capable truck for when you want to go camping

Good day, @Sire777

I am very glad to see when people ask questions like this, and then get some great suggestions to help answer them for you.

The A-Liner and others in the same light weight family are a great place to start as suggested above.

I am now going to look into Happy Camper trailers, as I have never heard of them before this...and I am a curious person so want to see them!

There are quite a few good towing related threads here that have a lot of good towing info if you do decide on a trailer that fits your truck and your needs.

I hope the suggestions here are helpful to you...except for the big Ford dually...that is too much of a good thing in my books!

;-)

Have a nice day,

Andy

Pop ups and tear drop campers are going to be your best bets for a non-AWD Hybrid. There are some light weight campers that would work, but those will be older models (13ft Boler types) or very expensive new.

Hello again, @Sire777

I just looked at "HAPPIER CAMPER" trailers, and they look very nice! I know I have camped in much lesser trailers over the years.

Here is the info sheet on one of the more expensive models.

Have a good one

Andy

Under 2,000 lbs is tough to find.

Under 3,000 lbs opens up many more possibilities.

Contrary to what some will say, you CAN tow 3,000 lbs with your truck if your trailer has brakes AND you add a trailer brake controller AND you always keep your speed under 65 MPH.

The 2022 FWD Hybrid does well for me at up to 65 MPH and I like to keep it about 62 MPH ( 100 KPH ).

This one is 2750 lbs unloaded and has flush toilet and full size shower. Only sleeps two adults and possibly a small child or two if you fold down the kitchen table.

A great option for a couple.
Works for us.
The build quality (and price) for $15k is definitely entry level. But gets the job done.

It's a 2025 and I've used it five trips in western states mountains and pulled it about 3,000 trouble-free miles so far.

Air drag is worse than the weight.
Good luck on your search.
If it's your first trailer you might want to start smaller. I've been towing for 25 years and am comfortable with this setup and the truck does well.

I added a brake controller. Ford does not provide one for a FWD hybrid but there are $100 to $200 after market options.
