I love it, but until Ford can meet demand, where's the incentive to be build ANY variations at this point? It's not difficult to imagine King Ranch/ Platinum/ STX variations as well, but again: why invest in all of that when you can't meet the demand for what's already out there?
Long McAuthor has 48 Mavericks for sale on thier lot right now... 32XLTs, 12Lariats... Supply has caught up to demand. There's definitely excess capacity now to do some special versions...

If the price of a vehicle, plus a penalty for F/E is within your budget go for it.
I can just about guarantee, you are not taking it with you.

Ever see a brinks truck following a hearse?

And yet, people on here are complaining all the time that their truck has been on order for XX months and still no word as to when it will arrive. Doesn't sound like demand has been met, at least when it comes to the hybrid. The dealer I bought my '23 from is one of the largest in New York State, and they have just two in stock, both Eco-Boost AWD.

May be more to do with dealer allotments than anything.
Ford never intended to supply a large quantity of $20K XL Hybrids... bait and switch was always part of the plan.

They can build as many EB/AWDs as they want... and if you order one today, you have it in 8-12 weeks now (provided dealer has allotments). ST package won't hurt that reality one bit and it will earn them much more money than the $1500 increase of the hybrid.

The headline on Ford Authority that got my attention read:

Back in early 2021, the Ford Ranger MS-RT (for M-Sport Road Technology) debuted in Europe as a pretty unique and sporty offering inspired by the automaker’s global rally racing efforts. That particular variant managed to carve out its own niche in the region, and was joined by the Ford Transit Custom MS-RT as well. As Ford Authority reported yesterday, The Blue Oval just revealed a new Transit Custom MS-RT based on the redesigned version of that van, and it will once again be joined by an also-new version of the Ford Ranger MS-RT, too.
1707939471903.png
Developed in conjunction with MS-RT – an offshoot of Ford’s rally partner, M-Sport – the new Ford Ranger MS-RT continues the trend set by the outgoing model as a utilitarian yet sporty vehicle capable of making even mundane tasks like hauling things a bit more fun. On the outside, that’s quite evident by its many unique features that include a front fascia inspired by racing versions of the Ranger, a honeycomb grille, integrated front spoiler, exclusive diamond-cut 21-inch wheels with low-profile tires, flared wheel arches, MS-RT graphics, side skirts, a cab spoiler, rear ducktail spoiler, and a unique rear bumper with an integrated diffuser.
1707939521092.png
That sporty theme continues inside the cabin, where the Ford Ranger MS-RT is equipped with unique seats that feature more supportive bolstering covered in vegan leather and suede, blue stitching, MS-RT badging, and a sculpted sports steering wheel with a blue 12 o’clock marker and MS-RT branded inlay.
1707939554570.png
Sitting 40mm lower thanks to its specially-tuned sport suspension, the Ranger MS-RT also has a 40mm wider track to improve handling prowess. It works in tandem with the turbocharged Ford 3.0L V6 diesel powerplant, which generates 240 PS (238 horsepower) and 600 Nm (443 pound-feet) of torque, which flows to all four wheels via the 10-speed automatic transmission and Ford’s e4WD full-time four-wheel drive system. European customers can order both the Transit Custom MS-RT and Ford Ranger MS-RT from Ford Pro dealers right now, with the first deliveries expected to begin in mid-2024.
We’ll have more on the Ford Ranger MS-RT soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Ranger news and around-the-clock Ford news coverage.

I love the street look that the front fascia, honeycomb grille, integrated front spoiler, diamond-cut 21-inch wheels with low-profile tires, flared wheel arches, MS-RT graphics, side skirts, cab spoiler, rear ducktail spoiler, and the rear bumper with an integrated diffuser. Reminds me of the S-10 Extreme back in the day. I also love the color of the interior and the actual seating.

Yep, Ford needs to produce an all wheel Maverick street machine with say 300+ HP. That's about the only thing that I can think of that would make me sell my XL and order a new one.
Looks like it got sideswiped to me ;)

It defeats the purpose of the Maverick, if you like the Ranger then buy one! Leave the practical Maverick alone, Ford will F'it up eventually but for now we have a pretty good affordable vehicle!

A diesel engine in a vehicle meant to go fast is dumb. All they did here is make it heavier.
If pointed towards the Off Road community, a diesel will provide a lot of torque at low, controllable engine rpms. Good also for torque needed when towing. Not so good in general for 'Go Fast' operation. So, what is the model being sold as...?

Rally Sport means stick for shifting. Not the round turns thing in the Maverick.
Do note this has a 10-speed slush box, not a manual transmission. But the gear selector does look cool.
The 'knob' system leaves a lot to be desired. While awaiting for a temporary one-land road to shift direction, I shut down the engine. Re-started, and the thing had put itself in PARK. I do NOT like the bleepin' thing deciding what gear to shift to on its own. I must have been thinking I was in the 5-speed Ranger...

Very sharp! But this wouldn't be the "affordable" 30 grand maverick.this truck would probably be 50-60 grand.

Funny. I almost posted this article too but because I think the front end looks like it could be the right design for a Maverick refresh or next gen.
