YES Ken absolutely.
There are wireless magnetic"trailer cams" listed on Amazon.

Great idea - I think this may solve the "tailgate down" problem I have when I put my kayak in the bed of my Mav. May also help when backing my boat trailer if I put the camera on top of the cab (poor mans "180"?).

For science I tried the 360 view in my Lariat with the tailgate open.

It technically still "works" but doesn't show anything from the rear bumper on correctly.

I find it makes me a little dizzy. The other cameras look normal but the back camera blends weirdly.

I would have preferred the back camera just be disabled when in "tailgate down" mode.

We drove trucks & cars for 100 years plus without a backup camera. Best option is turn head around an look behind you as needed, we do have a neck....!
We also have blind spots.

There are cheaper ones mentioned in post #8 That one of our members has experience with.

Again, if only I had known before I bought my 2025 Maverick Lariat.

Is there a Ford OEM or aftermarket auxiliary backup camera for use when the tailgate is down? Every time I go to the transfer station!
Learn how to use your mirrors!

Sounds like you are being a little too picky. Nobody drives around with their tailgate down. Plus you have a rear view mirror and 2 side mirrors. I don't understand why you are bothered by this.

This is most likely because their use case transcends your own experience. It happens.

You drive around all the time with that extender on? Probably should have purchased a bigger truck. Sorry if I offended you. It was not intentional.

Yes, I almost always drive w/ the extender on, but 99.99% of the time, it is folded into the bed.

You didn't offend me, but I thought that your comment was a bit inconsiderate, not in a malicious way, but just not considering that these are light duty trucks that for some of us are more of a car that can haul things once in a while, and when we do haul things, we often have to put the tailgate down like when hauling 4'x8' sheet lumber.

The nature of the Maverick is that it often needs the tailgate down.

And regarding the bed extender, I find it one of the most unexpectedly useful extras that my truck has as when it is in the bed w/ the tonneau down, I call it the brunk. Keeps all those water bottles, propane cylinders, and grocery bags from moving around.

Most trucks have the backup camera in the tailgate handle unless they have a 3rd brake light camera

I don't believe Ford is going to the expense of redesigning the camera on a Ford Maverick, for the small percentage of folks who drive around with their tailgate down.
