It’s a great mod, indeed.

Yup, first mode I did, the very evening that I picked up the truck.

The next one will be here tomorrow, Redline Tuning hood struts.
I did that one also. They are pretty simple to install. Make sure you check the part numbers before installing to make sure you have the right bracket for each side.

I'm thinking of installing the tailgate assist kit, I'm surprised how heavy the tailgate is! A couple of questions though:
I know that gas struts can get stiff when it's hot and it does get hot here in the Mohave Valley - 115 by the end of this month, will that make it hard to close the tailgate on a hot day?
Also it looks like you have to remove the 2 black bracket thingy's that I assume are there to guide the tailgate support cables. I figured the Ford in their infinite wisdom put them there for a reason, has anyone had a problem with the cables getting trapped?

You only have to remove one(it's a tie down/bottle opener) there is only one strut. There is no resistance raising it just slows it down when opening

How well do the aftermarket hood struts work on the Maverick? Is it a worthwhile modification?

Don't know yet, installing today, but the redline tuning ones work great on my wrangler.

I like it

Yep - it was the first mod I did and it was worth it. Makes one-handed operation easier without straining the wrist. The second mod was the black letters, same as shown.
