I traded the Explorer for my Mav partially so I could haul the Bike on some nationwide cross-country trips without having to book a month off and bring 3 sets of tires. lol

A southern US coast-to-coast ride is in my future, with New Orleans, Tail of the dragon, and the Florida Keys on that bucket list.

BTW Thread Officially Hijacked!! 🙃
Go for it!

Nah. I've never found much use for sunroofs or moonroofs. They bring all the glare and/or noise of a convertible, with very little of the actual joy.

I dailied a roadster for 13 years and have an old TJ as a 3rd vehicle, so I get my open air driving elsewhere.
I'm with you. I've had many cars with a sunroof and found over time I rarely use it - let alone have the sunshade open because it could get bit too hot. There were two Lobo's at different dealerships I was considering with one having the moonroof option. Wife encouraged I buy it but frankly felt the $1k for it could be better spent on better value options that I'd add later. Glad I did.

I have had moonroofs on many of my previous vehicles. The Maverick is the first vehicle I've purchased that didn't have one. I found I don't miss it one bit. I find the sliding back window far more useful for airflow and the cabin gets plenty of light inside. Bonus, it's quieter and I don't have to worry about leaks.

Most of my personal vehicles have had sunroofs. The problems were I was never home to drive them much. Was always in a commercial service van/truck AND on call a lot! Now being retired, I can drive my personal vehicles more often. My 2026 Mav Lariat Hybrid (just picked up today) definitely has the sunroof. It will get used as much as possible depending on weather. This ride will be my NEW daily driver. Pics coming real soon 😉

Convertibles are my year-round preference. But my wife tends to complain about the top being down and messing up her hair . . .

Of the 70k that I put on my '06 Miata GT, well under 1k was with the top up.

THis is her maverick. I was surprised when she said "yes" to the moonroof as we ordered, but ordered it for her. I'm pretty sure she's never used it on her own, but it's been to vent a couple of times when I've driven her, and I usually have it and the rear window open.

If you want to cramp the cabin and take away headroom, go ahead and girl it up with a sunroof.
I drove a friend's mother's rabbit a few times in college for whatever reasons.

It had a sunroof, which cost it enough headroom that I had to open it and lean a bit sideways to fit!

The Maverick, though, has enough roof (and side!) room that even with the sunroof there's no problem wearing a proper western hat, nor when turning my head.

I would take a sunroof over air conditioning. But that’s just me.
Both!

😁

I could feel the air in the Miata up to about 80 with the top down.
(OK, so it had about the same size AC and heat as a Crown Victoria, but, still . . .)

Us 80+ guys remember the "torpedo" shaped wind driven fan evaporative AC units that hung on passenger window. Had to add a quart of water every few miles.
Later ones sat on the driveshaft and used ice. My parents had one for the 60s Dodge Dart--not that we could feel the difference in the back seat!

I was wondering how many people optioned for a sunroof when they ordered their Maverick. I might have ordered a First Edition Maverick instead of a loaded Lariat, if I could delete the sunroof. The only way to get a sunroof is to order it as an ad on option. I never used the sunroofs that came on most vehicles I've owned, and would pass paying extra for one.
My last 2 Mavericks I bought from stock, they had sunroofs, I had no choice, my first Mav ordered back in 21 a FX4 lux AWD 4Ktow full size spare and sliding window, no roof saved 1000 dollars. I have to admit I have used it but it goes from cold to hot so fast one day you have the heat on next day the AC.

Like others have said you get a nice air flow with the sunroof on tilt and the rear slider open. I leave it that way most of the time!
AC off?

Lovin' the moonroof in my hybrid XLT. As others have said, it does give a 'convertible breeze' vibe, and let's more sunshine in. ❤😎❤

I only use it, in conjunction with the sliding rear window, when someone in front me has run over a skunk.

This one is great. It is one of the first i have ever had that you can drive up to 70 and it doesn't blow you away with obnoxious air. I get sunroofs in all my cars. Best one yet. Use it daily.

They are nice to have until they leak. Then you are like why tf did i put a hole in the roof. Plus it's added weight to the ceiling.

Update, I owned a 2008 focus SES with the sunroof. Used to crank Baba OReilly going down the highway with all the windows down and the sunroof open. Few years before trading it in, sunroof started to leak. Both mats on the drivers side soaked constantly.
3 years, daily use, never an issue. The old one's likely had drains that clogged. Never an issue to date. Doubt it will be.

I added the moonroof when I ordered mine in 24. I really enjoy it, I use the tilt and open the back glass. Gives it a nice little breeze inside without rolling down the windows.
That's what I do. Open rear sliding glass and crack moon roof. Best air flow, very nice.
