never tow anything and it seems like this is the easiest way to defeat that silly auto-start-after-stop "feature"--but i can't find a specific way to do it

vague suggestions elsewhere about "unhooking a wire under the dash" or "unplugging a harness to the left of the brake pedal"

anybody ever done this on their maverick? mine's a '24 xlt

funny: had the truck all this time and this morning was the first time it did that auto start stop silliness. only reason i can think of for the suddenness of it after nearly two years of driving is that i've finally started using a battery tender overnight couple of times a week and i'm wondering if all this time my batt has not really been at full charge--which i've read activates the auto start stop

as always i'm grateful for the width on this great list

infinitely sensible query--riddles me too but apparently it works to eliminate auto stop/start

I'm not sure what to say other than the trailer brake control module has nothing to do with the auto start/stop feature. to my knowledge the "easiest/simplest way" to keep it turned off is to install one of the auto start/stop eliminators into the odb port under the dash below the steering column. There are other ways with either a software change or different hardware based on my understanding, but he two products below are simple plug and play. Good Luck

I had this 2023 post bookmarked: Maverick 2.0 Stop/Start

"On an F150 you can take a trailer light receptacle plug (just cut one off an old wiring harness) and plug it into the trailer light receptacle in the back of the truck"

"I tried the hitch wiring and a couple of other things. Didn’t work."

much as i appreciate the advice to buy a new thingy to fix an old thingy i should have qualified my thread with the remark that i'd rather not spend anything--much less 100 bux--to stop something that shouldn't have started in the first place

and the trailer brake control module shouldn't logically pertain but as said it definitely does. here's a cut'n paste from the first site i found mention of it:

Method 3: Trailer Brake Module Trick (No-Cost Option)

This creative method takes advantage of Ford’s safety programming that automatically disables start-stop when towing.

Steps:

  1. Locate the trailer brake control module (TBCM) harness behind the driver’s kick panel
  2. Carefully disconnect the TBCM harness
  3. This tricks the vehicle into “trailer connected” mode
and here's the link to that page: https://cartipsdaily.com/how-to-permanently-turn-off-ford-auto-start-stop

apparently no one here has tried this method? seems simple enuf but i'd rather not go unplugging anything without instructions specific the mav

again grateful for all y'all's help

Search the forums for the poster that put a power point light in back seat - it's enough draw the AS/S won't enable.

Now, I don't recall the details - it may have been with his battery in it's current state - that was enough draw while driving.
Light out - enabled, light in - disabled.

And with power points active after lock up for a bit - a light would indeed drain the battery to a point that the power would start turning off on door close.

I thought about this, but then I read that it disconnects your Blindspot monitoring your mirrors. Not willing to do that - I need them. Lol

said it on another thread am i so spoiled i can't just push a button every time i drive? i'm willing to risk losing key sensors on my marvelous maverick just to spite ford the stupidity of auto stop start?
thanx mwelby for the reminder to look before i leap.
now pushing the A button will be one more part of the startup sequence before takeoff

oh i know: why this sudden auto stop start thing kicking after we've been driving the truck nearly two years? i wondered if it was some upgrade that had happened overnight and online--it had certainly never shown up before

turns out it was a chronically weak battery. we really rarely drive our mav--not nearly enuf to keep the batt topped off. for the first time i hooked up a battery tender and left it overnight. next day the auto stop start thing started

again mwelby and twice on sunday thank you for your reminder
