Has anybody added an aftermarket electric brake controller to their Maverick? And does it have the factory plug that you can plug the controller into.. If so, could somebody please tell me where it's located and post a picture of it

I don't know why? Especially with a max tow of 2000lbs, why you would need a electric trailer brake controller. Check your state or what states you are planning on towing in how much trailer weight before they require brakes on the trailer.

I would highly advise looking at what the 4k tow pkg includes. It's not just a brake controller but a different gear ratio, high capacity radiator, upgraded fan and trans cooler. It also requires AWD, 2.0 which comes with an 8 speed transmission. That's just from memory and I may have missed something.

The brake controller plug for a Ford Maverick can be found under the dash, where it plugs into the vehicle's factory harness using a vehicle-specific wiring harness. The other end of the wiring harness plugs into the brake controller you might have to look way up inside the dash as my last Ford was zip tied out of sight

To answer your question more thoroughly....

Yes you can add a brake controller (to any vehicle). Including hybrids.

No there is no "plug n play" option unless you paid for the 4k package.

But it is simple to add. If you can add speakers or a new radio, this project is easier than that. You can tap the 4 pin that came with your truck for brake lamps and signal lamps. That's 4 of the 7 pins already done for you.

You'll need to add a brake signal to your controller (high mount stop lamp I found an easy tap point) and then send a brake power wire from the controller to the back of the truck. 1 wire added will do the basics.

Pin 6 is optional and only there if you have reverse lamps on your trailer. I don't. Pin 6 is not required.

Pin 7 is optional and only there if you want to charge a battery on your trailer, or run a porch light on your trailer etc.
