Can anyone tell me why the "Trailer Sway Control" option is always "on" by default? My base XL does not have a tow kit. Thanks.

It's just a factory setting to revert to "on" everytime for safety reasons. It really does work and should be left on.

But how does it physically work? Does this setting do something to the rear axle or suspension or sway bar?

No, it does not adjust any suspension components. The system only uses the brakes to stop the swaying. It judges when trailer swaying is occurring by reading the speed of each rear wheel, which then triggers the brakes.

Well, ya gotta admit, pretty clever feature! Okay, I'll leave it be. Hey, while I have your attention, on an unrelated note (since you're awake, like me), what ar eyour thoughts on first time oil change timing to get rid of the break in oil? Answers here seem to be all over the place.

Oh yeah, the oil topic is a whole can of worms
Just my 2 cents though, I would do the first change at 1000 miles to get the break-in oil out. Plus, the oil filter from the factory is like a mini-filter and not full size, so good to get that swapped out too. When I changed mine at 1000 miles first, the oil was a bit glittery and had a slight olive green hue to it.- First Name

I see you have an Ecoboost, but don't know what year it is.
If you have a 2022-2024, the filter is Motorcraft FL-910S.
if you have a 2025-current, the filter is Motorcraft FL-2127.
If you have a 2022-2024, the filter is Motorcraft FL-910S.
