That type of scuffing is pretty common on pickup truck's undermounted spare tires. Not worth worrying about. just make sure it is snugged up against the frame so it is not moving around.

Let me understand this.... I paid an extra $115 for a "full size spare" that is labeled: EMERGENCY USE ONLY. So, was Henry Ford's middle name really Barnum.??

looks like where it just rides against the frame and rubs a little. You could always get a strip of rubber and sandwich it between the tire and that area and snug it back up against the frame.

Glad Ford isn't selling mattresses, order full size and they deliver twin. Maybe we have full size beds on our trucks.

Has anyone checked their spare tire. I found a picture on the Canadian Ford Maverick site and thought I would share after I checked mine and it was burnt.

I went out right away and pulled my tire. I have the same damage but after crawling under my truck I believe it is rubbing and wear spots not melted. Still this shouldn't happen and ford needs to be aware of it.
I also found that my spare does not match the rest of my tires which really angers me. I did not pay extra for cheap knock offs, although at least it is the correct size, I read another person had received a 16 inch tire.

I think the wheel is full-size. You can have a full-size tire installed.

It works...but still isnt the correct kind and just a temporary replacement. I believe the spares that come with other Ford trucks are the exact same tire.

I wouldn't even call that wear. The raised detail pattern of the sidewall isn't disturbed.
