Is it just me or does the windshield get easily nicked/chipped? I don't mean giant chips, but little ones from sand/grit. I apologize if this has been discussed before. I used the search and couldn't find anything.

I would doubt there's a difference in glass "quality" since I would assume that is something the government (NHTSA and DOT) regulates. Now the angle of it may or may not make a difference, I have no clue.

A rock hit my windshield the day I brought it home. No chip or crack, which actually surprised me. It hit pretty hard.

I don’t know what trim you have but the acoustic laminated windshield was one of the reasons I chose a Lariat. I did get one very tiny chip in 18 months from a good size rock but it wasn’t noticeable after it was filled in.

There is definitely a difference in the regular glass windshield and the acoustic laminated glass windshield in the Lariats. One of the reasons I bought a Lariat.

I swear people will find something to complain about whether they need to make it up in their heads or if in fact it's real.

I have no idea if glass can be soft and if so, I am surprised. But I figured out a long time ago, MTC owners are the whiniest people I have had the pleasure of meeting online.

Yes I'm aware of the acoustic windshield on the lariat, I have one. And agree, makes a difference with sound levels inside the truck, I've driven an XLT vs my lariat so I can vouch for that but I not sure if it adds any resistance to chips or not, who knows..

2565 miles and I have 3 very small chips caused by the same stone I'm assuming. Not really sure when it occurred. Maybe it was just bad luck, but I would drive my other vehicles for years before getting a chipped windshield, if at all.

I agree the glass is soft. Got a
Scratch from using my wipers. And a
Small chip from a rock.

Paint is soft... windshield is soft lol.

Makes sense. Actually, the only issues I've had with chips have been in the blue ovals. It's weird. Montana roads are hellish and it's usually from oncoming traffic, but I've never had any real damage on any other vehicles I've owned. FORD must attract rocks.

I swear people will find something to complain about whether they need to make it up in their heads or if in fact it's real.

I have no idea if glass can be soft and if so, I am surprised. But much like I figured out a long time ago, MTC owners are the whiniest people I have had the pleasure of meeting online.
Oh, the irony... Whining about "whiners". That'll teach em!
I see more posts like yours on MTC than actual complaints.
