XLT windshield replacement with acoustic lariat glass?

Had mine replaced on my XLT earlier this year with Carlex Soundscreen; insurance company covered it with nothing out-of-pocket. Provided the glass company the part number for the Soundscreen glass, they submitted it and it was paid.

I wish somebody or anybody would explain. How a laser can be blocked. Then continue on on the other side of the blockage and only the green laser.

I have an XLT and notice lots of wind noise on the highway, but I'm a soundman so I notice stuff like that. I don't see the benefit of acoustic glass in my truck as the noise is obviously coming from air flow across the fender/door gaps. Double gasketing should tame that, but it doesn't bother me enough to tackle that project.

I may be in the minority here, about insisting on a Ford/OEM windshield, but when the original cracked from a single hit ('24 Lariat Tremor), the shop that replaced it used a PGW acoustic one that came from offshore. Honestly, in the last year and a half, it has taken 3 hits, 2 of them rather large, and no crack has resulted.

Unfortunately, my windshield has a rock chip with a now growing crack, I’ve heard of XLT owners getting replacements with the lariat acoustic glass, does anyone have any experience with this and if so, how are you able to have the glass company do it? I am in Florida where our insurance will pay for the replacement cost if that matters at all I’m under GEICO.

Ford OEM 25 Lariat windshield glass is backordered. I have had one on order for a month with my dealership and my buddy who is the senior parts guy has no idea when it will come in. None showing in his system. For the record, this is west coast Canada so I don't know if the US is experiencing the same.

I was thinking about how easy it would be to test the differences.
Just comes down to details & logistics.
One owner of a Lariat.
One owner of a XL or XLT
One garage hopefully one of the trucks owners.
One 'large' Bluetooth speaker
One cell phone with a decibel app or decimal meter.
A date convenient for both.

That's a good lab test. A good field test would also be useful. Get 2 MAVERICKS the same year , same engine same tires and drive them the same place back to back with the owners then swapping vehicles and giving their subjective assessment.

It seems as if we're entering another period of supply chain shortages with some components. Sadly for the consumer, manufacturers seem to prioritize new vehicle production vs spare parts. God forbid they slow down production and allocate some of those parts for repair
