Rock chip 12 days after after I bought the truck. Turned into a crack quickly, and had to have my windshield replaced by Safelite.

Put this Aeroskin2 original deflector on soon after and now hardly anything hits the windshield.

I have the Ford branded model. It doesn't have that "hump" (for a lack of better words) like yours but 30K on the highway, creeping too close to massive trucks in the left lane slowing my hurried up self down and no problems either. Well worth the $75.

I tried to buy that model but it appears it is no longer made.

Is it just me or does the windshield get easily nicked/chipped? I don't mean giant chips, but little ones from sand/grit. I apologize if this has been discussed before. I used the search and couldn't find anything.
I wonder if a clear vinyl wrap on the window would help or if that would even be okay on glass. But even that would have to be replaced occasionally.

I saw this same issue with the release of the Mini-Cooper. Their chatroom's most active complaint was rocks damaging the windshield. After a year it was concluded that the UPRIGHT windshield was going to take direct hits of rocks, not glancing blows...nothing to do with quality of glass.

Maverick has a very upright windshield. I wish some manufacturer would come out curved UPRIGHT hood deflector...they do work. The upright deflector tends to direct small rocks up and over the windshield, at least a little....it worked well on my Honda Element.
Not only is the windshield more "upright" on these vehicles, but they sit much lower than most vehicles with "upright" windshields making them more susceptible to damage thrown up from the roads.

New from the dealer my windshield had tiny pits everywhere, hundreds. Pure shit. And the wipers running over this glasss sounds rough and gritty like no other ive ever experienced

Windshield is not soft, but is probably thin. Soft wouldn't crack, brittle does.

When jumping off a bridge, make sure you jump into "soft" water.

A world-wide search of glass hardness values reveals depending on the exact materials used ("recipe") of the glass, hardness varies no more than 1.7%.

Majority of glass is within 0.5% hardness of each other.

So no, the Maverick does not have "soft" glass. At least not in a meaningful way.

I swear people will find something to complain about whether they need to make it up in their heads or if in fact it's real.

I have no idea if glass can be soft and if so, I am surprised. But I figured out a long time ago, MTC owners are the whiniest people I have had the pleasure of meeting online.
Dang-it! It really chaps me that the mode selector button in my XLT has to be pushed one more time and much slower than the button in my Lariat to get slippery. I think it got a chip out of a recycled VIC20.
