I'm not hard on my interior at all, and still managed to scratch the plastics. I'd installed 3M Vinyl Paint Protection Film on my 24 Mav (where seatbelts hit, lower door panels, and console area) . It actually held up well, but I wanted to try something different on my new Mav. I purchased "leather felt upholstery" pieces from Hobby Lobby and did the best I could on the door panels. It doesn't look professional by any means, but it'll do. they only cost $1.49 for each piece, so not expensive at all.
I also have a dash cover as well for sun protection.

I'd love to spend the day running to the garage to prove you wrong, but I have work to do!
That’s what I thought! Scratches!!!

Yes. The plastics are Built Ford Rough across the entire lineup. The 42k Mavericks today are built the same way as the 20k Mavericks from 2021/2022.
This. They all have recycled plastic for much of the interiors.

I honestly don't mind that the plastic is cheap junk that's going to get easily scuffed and scratched. It's an interior. It gets used. It's going to get scuffed and scratched anyway. A nicer interior would probably break my heart when it got scuffed and scratched. Except the piano black stuff, which would have me obsessively scrubbing at it with microfiber until it got scratched by fingerprint oil (yes, piano black scratches that easily, I hate it so much).

Having an interior I don't give a crap about because it's already crap is actually a relief to me.

I’ll hand it to you that’s still looking pretty good. I’m OCD and take crazy care of my interiors and my Tremor was well worn in after 12k miles.

I have multiple scratches at only 1200 miles in my 2025.

Agreed, everyone is different and I get that and don't want to yuck anyones yum. But I've got a 7 year old and a dog and purchased the cheapest truck for sale in the US and the cheapest Ford they make. I'd much rather that money go to things like the bed design being useful with nifty cubbies than soft plastics. If the steering wheel, seat, and center console top feel ok, I'm good with how it feels (and I can get a cover for the center console because my dog's nails will rip that up).

I've got a car with nice fabric covered A-pillars. 3rd day I had the car I saw a mosquito and just instantly smacked it without thinking. I realized then he'd already gotten me because now I have a little bloodstain on that nice cream colored cloth-type interior there. Great, then time to google, find and buy some CG Lightning fast fabric stain extractor and a brush that will clean but not further scratch or leave scrub marks...

I like the look of that dash cover though. I might get that someday just because I think it looks neat and reminds me a bit of one I had on my 85 Ranger. Of course, that one had it because the dash was literally cracking into pieces from sun damage.

I've had my truck for about 9 months and 6000 miles and don't have a scratch anywhere on the truck. I'm not sure how you guys scratch the dash?
I was thinking the same, but I've been driving economy Fords as daily drivers for 35+ years, so I'm probably just used to it. I don't ever think about being extra careful though. I have some scuffs in the usual place where my foot occasionally hits the door on the way out, but that's it.

...some folks (including myself) had an expectation that the Lariat would be significantly nicer than the XL. In my opinion, it's not, and it was an unfair expectation...
I knew Ford's ways, and considered the higher trim levels mostly lipstick on a pig. Especially plastics on the dash, etc., which I knew were made from cheap recycled plastic material.

So I ordered an XL.

I’ve noticed the plastic on dashboard and console area scratches SOOOOO easily. Literally a light graze with a nail with hardly any pressure will scratch it.

I guess I can accept this since I got an XL base model. But do they also use cheap soft plastic on the Lariats and Lobos? Can anyone confirm this?

I've got a 2004 explorer sport trac that the interior plastics is almost perfect on. My 2024 lariat fx4 with 400 miles is already scratched up. Kinda pisses me off but I figure it's a baby truck and I'll just treat it as such. As long as it doesn't leave me stranded I'll live with it.

Yes here it is a I purchased the Brushed Black Suede I own one for my MotorCoach too different material but equally as nice I paid $73 for my 2025 Maverick
https://www.dashdesigns.com/p-37019-contact.html

they don’t cut out for the speakers but the material is “audio translucent” I wanted to cover the entire dash and it seems fine
Probably the best looking one!
