I know that but the Thread asks about the shift from Eco Mode to Slippery Mode.
True. But that question has been answered long ago. But many of us are older, so we easily get sidetracked and go off on tangents. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I love slippery mode on our hybrid. I don't use for snow but on ice which is extremely common on our township hilly roads.

Somewhat related, has anyone found if there's a way to tell the Mav to start up in a different mode than normal? I almost always want to commute in Eco, but because it's a weird software button i can't seem to get the muscle memory down for how many times i need to push the button- and it's kinda annoying...

the smallest of nits to pick I know.. but i love the truck and this seems like an easy thing...

David,
The answer your question is yes.
It requires a piece of electrical hardware to be installed.
What year is your Maverick?

I have a 2024 Hybrid XL, I was hoping it was a funny button-combination stealth feature or maybe something I could edit with one of those ODB dongles. Not sure I want to spend any money just for this small annoyance, but how does this gizmo work?

I think it's inappropriate to discuss the drive modes unless you clearly mention whether you're talking about the EB or hybrid. Eco mode in the hybrid definitely helps you shut off the ICE and continue on electric drive more easily. It also reduces throttle response a bit and increases regenerative braking while coasting. I have the impression that you probably get slightly better fuel economy, but no numbers to back this up.

Yes; you can change in motion. Obviously, it has been answered, but I needed justification for my tangential inclusion below.

In an F-150 I borrowed a few years ago, it would shift from 2WD to AWD/4WD (and back) while in motion, but you had to lift your foot off the accelerator for it to take place. In my wife's 2025 Expedition, it will shift from 2WD to AWD/4WD (and back) without requiring you lift your foot. Maybe it's because they know Expeditions are more likely to be driven by less vehicle-savvy moms* and don't want it to be overly complicated. Or maybe they improved the tech so that the computer can now handle the entire thing. If it now available in the F-150, it would at least indicate the latter theory.

---------
*= Before people complain, this isn't a comment about their gender but about their mechanical knowledge. Your average Expedition driver is most likely someone who just want it to work and doesn't care about the stuff car guys nerd out about. I just personally don't know any males whose primary vehicle is a stock Expedition.
