There's no drastic difference between modes. It's not like shifting into reverse at 70 mph. It just optimizes things like throttle and braking response for the respective situations.
yeah, it's not like anything is mechanically connected anymore. It's all "drive by wire". Is the brake pedal connected to a plunger on the Maverick, or is that also electronic?

It's 100% electronic with mechanical backup . When you press the brake pedal, you are pressing a simulator. You're not physically pressing the master cylinder unless the electrical system TOTALLY fails.

May not be a “drastic” difference, but you can definitely feel the difference between normal and sport. It’s like regular 911 to Turbo S in the push of a button. 😂😂😂

Slippery Mode works pretty well on My 2025 with the 2.0 EB on snow covered roads but like Cherokee said it feels like it needs a tune up in slippery mode.

When I first tried Eco mode in my 2.0EB, the sensation was weird and made me think of the truck having a head cold. Switched back to Normal and all was well. Don't need my truck feeling like it's on Benadryl, but it was interesting because on my 2016 CR-V I don't feel near as dramatic a change in Honda's Eco mode as with the Mav.

I find these reports, stories odd.
Slippery mode in my Ecoboost equally powers all four wheels. This engagement, powering all the drive train should burn more fuel.

Old racing knowledge :
If you remove one pound of rotational mass it has the same effect on acceleration as removing two pounds of static mass.

On my AWD eco with Michelin Defender 2 tires here in WNC, I have to go up and down a sometimes icy driveway - ridiculously steep. In normal mode it is a bit unnerving. In slippery mode it is great - no slipping. In normal, when I hit an icy spot the vehicle loses traction and goes sliding just enough to freak me out.

So, at least going up and down my 175' vertical climb drive in icy conditions, it is slippery mode.

I find it REALLY odd that people don't pay attention to the significant differences between hybrid and ecoboost.

See that little icon by people's names?

😜

Full time slippery in a FWD hybrid = full time phenomenal MPG.

In FWD Hybrid the computer adjusts for less aggressive actions. Not sure but most likely single wheel braking for any slipping actions. The less aggressive regen braking which happens only on front will be coordinated with the rear and acceleration happens only on front where most of vehicle weight is.
ETA: Less aggressive hybrid regen mean less energy can be stored in HVB which can lower battery conversion losses.

In the hybrid, slippery mode makes the engine lethargic. I think that's where any of the savings come from. To me it feels even more anemic than the economy mode. I'm also thinking that even in slippery mode the rear drive doesn't engage after the initial takeoff until a bit of skip is detected.

Actually, Cherokee said “ECO Mode” feels like it needs a tune up.

Different flavours for different folks!

Myself, I have tried "Slippery" mode and only like it when it is actually slippery out on the roads...where I want a more...ahem...relaxed throttle response.

These times are not cruise control use times (but it is available for use of the mode for day to day use).

My go to mode is "Eco" and I modify it's more aggressive power regeneration braking by modulating the gas pedal to extend coasting when slowing down...I find this mimics "slippery" mode without it's use and draw backs.

I find it more to my liking using the gas pedal to extend coasting (mimicking "slippery" mode, as opposed to modulating the brake to slow down more quickly if in "slippery" mode.

I know in "eco" mode it won't exceed its electric regen capacity while modulating the brake in "slippery" mode I do.

Just my use case of course, and in town/city driving as noted in earlier posts, "eco" has the right balance.

Have a good one,

Andy

And the award for the most people who overthink everything goes to members of the Maverick Truck Club. 😂😂
Yeah, but just remember whatever forum you’re in on the Internet… if it’s there to talk about …someone’s gonna overthink it. 😜😜😜
