Hi, advice please..
I don't do off-roading and also don't tow.
But ordering AWD for snow/winter drive.

Now that I am ordering AWD, am thinking it only makes sense to add 4k tow or fx4(for 800$). I am just thinking from resale perspective(just in case, why not)

What do you suggest..
or is it worth skipping 4k and fx4 and save 800.
I would definitely get the 4k, there is so much there that it is simple. With that said, it's only $800 more for FX4, so add that as well. If anything, the wheels are nice and the other couple of goodies makes it worth it.

I feel the 4k tow is a great option even if you seldom use it . You are getting a much better truck with 4k . I have an XL with 4 K on order so FX4 was not an option for me . I rationalize if you are comparing one or the other 4 K is a better mechanically outfitted truck . Yes it still has underbody protection but I think it is made of plastic instead of aluminum. And from what I have seen you still have to lower it to do an oil change . By the way getting a electronic locking tailgate on a XL is only a 40 dollar option !!

4k tow. Most people will never take these off road and that makes the FX4 package just style package to future buyers.

Why buy either if’s you don’t need them? The fx4 package does offer hitch w/better cooling fan & radiator + different display screen and modes appearance options wheels/tires & tow hooks with underneath protection ($800 cheap options).

Might I ask, by how much ?

Since neither is something you would want/use/need, it becomes a budget question. If you can afford it, get it. If you can't, don't.
That's one way to put it 😀

Get both. I always want more truck than I need. 4k tow is a no brainer in my opinion and while FX4 is more subjective, I'd spring for it based on the value. Good luck and Happy New Year!

If you can afford, go for both. I really like the tow hooks that the FX4 package adds. Will make it so much easier if you ever get stuck and need towing. The upgraded wheels and tires are also good. I love my slippery setting that works so well in the snow. Skid plates are more of a pain to take off, but they just provide extra insurance in case you run over something. The ground clearance is significantly lower in this than some other standard trucks.

The 4K is a great option as well. 2K max towing without is not much. My Jeep Renegade pulled that much. It may be able to pull a small ultra lite trailer.

Down the road, you double your audience for those interested in the truck. You get the audience of those who would like to do the fire roads and light off reading… plus those that the 2K towing is almost a reason to look elsewhere. When I was looking, the 2K vs Ranger @ 7.5k towing is a big swaying point.

FX4 for hooning (play), 4K for gooning (play disguised as work)

FWIW, I ordered the XLT with everything except 4K. I would rather get a Lariat Lux hybrid for the same money as a loaded XLT AWD. Just my 2 cents. I don't actually need any of the packages. I really don't even need a truck.

I think both packages are a great value even with the overlap.

Some additional things not mentioned in the package details:

FX4:
not only adds the tow hooks, but also the framework to mount the tow hooks (search the forum for a better explanation)

4K Tow:
Backup camera has downward facing view at the push of an onscreen button to align the hitch with a trailer (I'm assuming that this is not a standard feature)

Side mirrors have wide-angle bubbles in corners

I've read that the rear suspension is upgraded
My FX4 without 4k tow has the camera function and bubble mirrors. Not sure about the 4k but the fx4 has different shocks. I got the package for the wheels alone. Also, I believe the tow package raises the RPM .5 or 1 at most.

The features overlap and I personally like the FX4 if I had to pick one. You get the MUCH nicer display screen and the small but notable off-road features.

Mmm, looks like I will loose eco and sport modes with fx4(for sand and rut mode).

May be I am leaning towards 4k tow. Will sleep on it few days 😀. I ordered it already but I think I have plenty of time to change the config.
I ordered both. If you don't care about the tow hooks just go with 4K. If you love the hooks it's almost impossible (without major surgery) to add them later.

I went tow package, Doubling its capacity and the trailer brake controller was a big selling point. the FX4 package looks cool, but if I was going to do off roading the Maverick wouldn't be my pick in any guise.

Yes sorry, the improved suspension is with the FX4 package. Also I'm reading the blindspot mirrors are standard and all trims. The Mavericks with copilot 360 have regular mirrors.
