Sorry for my ignorance. Are you asking a question? If so, I didn’t understand. Please ask again.
Should I put my noco charger on the truck overnight to charge the new battery in it?
Does it need to detect the new battery being charged in order to remember the battery type and voltage?

I will say it seems like when I start the truck the voltage goes up to 15 volts, and not too long of a drive it drops to 13 volts or so and keeps it there.
With my old Ford battery it would stay at 14.5 or 15. I feel it must be dropping down because it can sense the new battery is full. The old one could never truly be full so it always called for a higher charge current while driving.

I already had a NOCO when I got the truck. Used it previously on my Subaru and the riding mower, to extend the 12v battery lifetime. I bought two of these quick connect connectors for convenience. I mounted one on my riding mower and one under the hood of my Maverick.

I only need one maintainer and the quick connect makes moving it between truck & mower quick & easy.

I leave the NOCO on the mower most of the time, but move it to the Maverick every now & then, or any time I won't be driving it a few days. Never had a dome light issue or any other battery related issue in my '23 Hybrid FWD with 20k miles and OEM Motorcraft FLA battery.

I would fully charge the new battery, then do the BMS reset. Additionally, after charging, try to let the truck sit for 8+ hours before driving it again.

Not sure what you mean by "Does it need to detect..." Are you referring to the NOCO? Or the BMS in the truck?
If the truck, the BMS will figure out what kind of battery has been installed if you reset BMS and let the truck sit 8+ hrs.
You have to manually set the NOCO to the type of battery you're connecting it to. The user manual tells you how to use it.

I need to get that noco terminal adapter. I could use it on mower and one on truck.
I meant the truck. I want it it detect that I put and AGM instead of a flooded acid battery.
I put the new AGM on the noco 2 until fully charged outside of the truck.
I then installed the AGM into the truck and did the re-learn.

Tomorrow evening I will put the noco on the truck under the hood for the night just to be sure all is well.

I have been driving in 'Sport' mode lately, and it's still in deep sleep mode.
Sport mode will empty your gas tank faster but it won't do anything to increase charging of the 12v battery. The 12V battery charges off the HV battery, not directly from the gasoline engine or an alternator (which the Hybrid does not have).

Thanks! I was unaware of that. I'm not schooled in the science of engines and how they work. I'm old school, and thought the gas engine would charge the battery.

Sport mode will keep the HV battery at a higher state but, that won't affect the input to the 12 volt battery.

I’ll get an AGM battery eventually, but I had a Ford battery laying around and decided to try it. If anyone also wants this battery, it’s still FLA and larger (size/cca/etc), but still fits.
$99 at Rural King.

I'll put myself in your shoes. My job was to break things for 40 years, not fix them.

However, I decided to take a look at doing the battery replacement myself, and I had little issue with it. I was done in about 30 minutes and did it with tools I had on hand. The advice I've seen on this thread is spot on, and I have nothing more to add, except you don't need to be afraid of doing it yourself. Some folks have made mountains out of molehills about the job, (like pulling the trim, you don't need to) but you don't have to be too mechanically inclined to do it, I'm certainly not.

I did it myself, reset the BMS by following the instructions in the manual, and it works much better and charges faster than the original Ford POS.

But by all means, if you're not comfortable or don't have the tools, then find somebody you're comfortable with to do it for you. I doubt a dealer will do it for insurance and liability issues. Paying a mechanic to do it will probably double the cost at a minimum.
The people talking about removing the trim are putting in a slightly larger AGM battery. It does not slide in without removing the plastic trim surrounding the storage area. Adding the bigger battery also requires bending down the metal clips so that the battery drops down in place. My plan is to put in an H4 which is the identical size of the OEM battery. I live in Canada so I have two choices. Either I source a battery up here ($250 to $300 - I have found 2 I can get locally), or order it in the US and have it delivered to our US address and go down and get it, but I don't have a lot of spare time these days. With exchange and my time to go pick it up I might as well get a name brand locally.

You’re smart to go with the H4 size as it requires no modification. I bought my AGM on Amazon. Good price and delivered. I don’t recall if I posted the link earlier in this thread, so here it is again.

I recommend the battery from Amazon listed in the post just above mine. I installed it and got it for $139 US delivered. Not sure of the exchange rate, so I don’t know if this cheaper or not than what you are looking at.

Thank you for your reply. My brother will be purchasing this Maverick and he's pretty good mechanically. I'll inform him on this and see if he wants to purchase the battery and make the change himself. If not, I'm sure he could find a mechanic to do the swap. Then, when I get my 25, we'll both know what to do.

Thank you again.
From what I’ve heard the 2025s now have the AGM battery as standard.
