I just ordered that battery today for $111 on Amazon.
After my battery failed me the other week and my truck went haywire I'm not going to give the dealership a chance to give me another trash battery.
Good write up I will look this over again before I install it, thanks
You're very welcome. If you have any more questions or issues feel free to ask the thread. Lots of experience here with a willingness to share.

Glad you got it finally.
I think you've been itching to for awhile.
Was winter the kicker?
Oh - SoCal - I guess not.

I've seen many a thread about how the hybrid's 12v battery is woefully inadequate and after 34 months my OEM battery finally got the point where it wouldn't start the truck. Thanks to several members here, specifically @Glen Baker LLC, I found a AGM replacement battery from Amazon and installed it today. Very satisfied with the install. The battery fit perfectly without any type of modification to the tray. Took a bit of doing to remove the original . . . mostly just figuring out where the holding clamp was located and navigating the thing out of it's bed.
I tried YouTube for a how-to and wow, was that disappointing. The one I found consisted of jerky and fast camera movements, almost no instructional context, and the capper was after finally getting it out, the installers realized the replacement was too big! Good grief! Why they published that is beyond me.

Anyway, this will serve not so much as a how-to replace the battery, but more of what you should have on hand before you begin.
Naturally, you'll need the battery.
I got mine from Amazon. Great price, 3 year warranty and 570 CCA The best feature of this battery is that it is an exact duplicate of the OEM and so it fit perfectly. No tabs to bend or cut. No plastic to trim.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CM3KNG1H?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

You'll also need the following:
  • 10mm socket (this will fit the nut holding the cable clamps on the terminals)
  • 1/4 drive with at least an 8" extension to get to the holding clamp on the passenger side of the battery. I recommend using a 10mm socket with a built-in magnetic holder so you can better align and hold the bolt when you try to put back in. Tough to get your fingers down in that narrow slot.
  • Telescoping magnetic pick up tool. Absolutely necessary for removing the holding clamp and replacing it.
  • Long blade screwdriver. You'll need to adjust the holding clamp over it's securing hole once you get it dropped in there and it will also serve to hold it down so you can retract the magnet pick-up tool.
  • You'll need something to keep the negative cable away from the battery bay otherwise it just gets in the way as you try to remove one battery and put in the new one. I zip tied mine to a small dumbbell.
Remember to reconnect the vent tubing and reset your BMS after install.

One last note: Amazon will give you a message that this battery will not fit your Maverick. Ignore that. It pops up because the Maverick hybrid's stock battery is not an AGM type. It fits perfectly.

*UPDATE* Battery has been in for a week with no negative issues. One minor, but welcomed result is that the dome courtesy lights come on when I enter the truck at night. Before the new battery, they did not light up which was inconvenient and frankly a bit irritating towards Ford for lousy quality.
I just had the 12V battery changed at the dealer yesterday to both my '22 hybrid Mav and my wife's '22 hybrid Escape. Thankfully, both were still under warranty and the service dept changed them out. My Mav is just over two years old, and my wife's Escape is just under 3 years old.

Is this the first time you had them replaced? I had mine replaced this past Feb. and I still constantly go into deep sleep mode.

That's great, I got my Maverick last March. Already have over 17,000 mi so it's not like I don't use it enough to keep the battery charged.
The new AGM battery that was posted here will be arriving today I'm going to try to switch it out. I did not bother going through Ford because everyone says their battery's just keep giving up. I need reliability with my vehicle for work and for emergencies.

My dealer replaced mine under warranty a week ago. 23 Hybrid, 1 year and 3 months old with @9K miles on it.

They said it was at 38% . I assume after they charged it.

It did always start and I carry a jump pack just in case as well as old school jumper cables. I am holding out in hopes of a "fix", or until my warranty runs out, before I put a battery in myself.

I agree. My truck always starts and the driver's door always unlocks. Dome lights don't work and passenger side door won't unlock when grabbing the handle. Ford Pass won't work. I am 'hoping' that Ford does resolve this issue, either by fixing the software, or providing AGM batteries for all affected vehicles.

Have your dealer diagnose your battery to see what percentage it’s at. As I stated, both my ‘22 hybrid Mav and my wife’s ‘22 hybrid Eacape were at 39% and I was getting the deep sleep mode multiple times per day, even after we drove them. The dealer replaced both batteries under warranty.

I have been driving in 'Sport' mode lately, and it's still in deep sleep mode. Guess I need a visit to the dealer.

When someone gets their battery replaced by a dealer, it would be good to note if the dealer replaced it with an AGM battery. That way we can tell if dealerships are now getting with the program.

I asked and I did not get an AGM. They knew why I asked and said they had to put in what Ford tells them to.

My battery was still under warranty, but I did not want the battery replaced with what is in my opinion an equally subpar product. So, I went with the 3rd party AGM type battery and have been very satisfied with its performance, albeit it has only been a week.

I put mine in today.
First thing that I noticed was the AGM one I bought was noticeably heavier.
I think more weight is a good thing for car batteries.
I followed OP first post. It was easy to do.
I did the battery reset of 5x flash lights 3 x hit brake and saw the battery symbol flash. I think I'll be all set now. 😁

We’ll see how long this battery lasts. I’m a cheapskate. I won’t pay unless it’s out of warranty.
