Renailt Oroch compact pickup

I spotted this Mexico market Renault Oroch today which Nissan could tap as a compact pickup for the US market as they are married in corporate. It is one size class down from Maverick however, and unlikely. I thought it was a cute opportunity for a couple of photos though.

Those are all over Brazil - personally, my visits to Brazil and observing all of their options whet my appetite for any small truck option in the USA. So now I have the Santa Cruz and still awaiting a 1st Ed AWD EcoBoost w Tow Package. Looking like September or October as of latest news off the VIN I have.

I think that is an older one.

The newer, updated ones look very Santa Cruzish.
Base price around $24k US.

It is originally based on the Dacia Duster and (I think) built in Brazil.

I think the compact pickup market is going to take off like the SUV's did years ago. There will probably be many if not most of the auto makers coming out with thier own version now that they see how well the Maverick has sold and has such a high demand.

The Maverick is popular for more than just the fact its a compact truck. It is a combo of price, styling, functionality/utility, thriftiness in cost to run/own, warranty, and practicality. I'm sure there are other reasons.

I'm sure other manufacturers will come up with their own, but Ford beat everyone to the market, and just like the Model T, the Maverick is the "original" and will be what most people think of when they think small truck.
