This was the second mod that I did. With a custom wire harness it's a 5min job, no tapping into factory wires. I also added an usb power cord on the harness for dash cam. So much cleaner than wiring cable under trims.

Just got the Mirror upgrade done and I love it. Such a simple upgrade but the added features, especially the auto-dimming is so appreciated!
IMG_8579.jpeg

Here’s where I got it - https://www.kiaautoparts.com/oem-parts/kia-auto-dimming-mirror-with-homelink-and-compass-2t062adu01

Here’s the YouTube video I used to install it. This was super helpful -https://youtu.be/-p3FWIW1MPA

any questions let me know!
I like it! I’m not asking you to measure anything. Just by eyeballing it, would you say it’s about the same size as the original, bigger or smaller?
Thank you

PS: Great install video too

The mirror I got as about the same size as the original (mirrored part). It is deeper than the original to accommodate the electronics.

This is an easy and inexpensive mod if you can get the heavily discounted mirror.

I can’t say for sure, but Visually it seems bigger when looking into it.

It’s not appreciably bigger — meaning, it looks like a factory install.

I love having the garage door openers there. The auto- dimming is cool … and the compass a bonus. (Compass already in the Maverick’s display behind steering wheel, but easier to see on the mirror.)

The auto-dimming mirror, with Homelink, should have been included in any LUX package, for sure on my Lariat. Even some of us old school folks have had auto-dimming mirrors for 25 years.

This isn't really so much of a "mod", it is an upgrade to fix where Ford really took the cheap way out. Usually about $20 shipped, and easy to wire in with a patch cord.

Maybe a dumb question but can this upgrade be done on a XL?

I don't see why not. You just need to get power to it...and you probably have lights up there in the area, even on a lowly XL. Someone has probably done it.

Is the dashcam always on or just when the truck is on?
