Cheap auto-dimming, homelink mirror

Has anyone actually installed this mirror? It was my understanding that the design of the camera unit in the windshield was going to be an issue for any auto-dimming mirror.

Edit: My bad, just realized I replied to a post about3 years old. Duh. Need to check my eyes. Also the price on the unit is now $11. I bought one as well. Can't beat it, and can resell even if it doesn't work on the Maverick.

There have been many, myself included that have done this. I did mine couple years ago, same Kia mirror. Pretty easy to do really. I think someone here on the forum had come up with a harness to make it plug and play. I tapped mine in. Just checked and here is the entire meal deal for $145. Much less expensive to just tap into what you need.

I think someone here on the forum had come up with a harness to make it plug and play. I tapped mine in. Just checked and here is the entire meal deal for $145. That is who I had recommended in the last post. Super communication and helpful. I know there are cheaper install options but I did not want to tap or splice. This option also allows a USB-C option for Dash Cams

Just to pass along. If you have a newer garage door opener and choose the Non Frameless Kia mirror (V3) this will not work unless a Bridge is purchased. This is clearly stated in the Etsy and Ebay instructions but I missed that. I ordered the Bridge and hopefully it will solve my issue. I ordered the USB-C addition as well to install a Dashcam (will not be using the Park Modes) just like SNOOPY did above. (looks nice!)

The wiring harness is a nicely made product. I highly recommend YTBCUSTOMS.

I could not unplug the molex from the overhead light fixture--it has some kind of lock or keeper and I never could depress the tab to loosen the the molex and remove it. Anybody have any suggestions or words of advice on how to unplug the molex with this clear plastic tab (TPA or CPA is what I gather it is).

I haven’t issues doing that. Maybe push the connector in more, to remove from stress from the locking tab. Maybe try a small screwdriver on the tab.

That was my next try--I did not want to pull too hard on that clear plastic keeper and pull out the wires. It appears to be some kind of lock or keeper to keep it in place. I was getting frustrated, so I stopped. May have to get a plastic spudger and insert it above the push tab and see if it will come free. If I can do that it won't take any time at all. Thanks.

Just had a thought that might work in unplugging the molex connector from the overhead console. A fuse puller might do the trick. I will have to give it a try.

Last week some roadraging teenager said a few colorful words to my wife while going thru a drive thru. Sadly i wasnt there to slash his tires, but it made me mount the viofo a129pro in her car. It went so easy i did my maverick today, along with the hyundai mirror. Power isnt connected yet. I might just run a power line from the fuse panel up.

Sorry to hear about the idiotic teen, but thanks for sharing that the install of your dash cam went smoothly. It will help others who might be on the fence about doing it themselves.

Sounds like you have a weak or unreliable connection going on. You may want to recheck your wiring.
