Those bastards! Well at least it wasn't a 9,999 lbs cyber truck!

Glad you and the family is ok. Looking at the finger marks on your tailgate can't be a very old youngster.

I was in a similar accident recently-

Hit by a 20 year old Chevy Avalanche...

My tailgate had a small dent and scuff, plastic bumper cover was damaged, and a bumper shock absorber had to be replaced.

$2200

Can't see any damage.
Yeah, I’m not taking any risks. If the body shop finds nothing then so be it, but I care about my Mav too much to assume. That energy went somewhere.

Thanks! He’s six. The insurance companies seem to be focused on car seats being in accidents. My wife was rear ended recently with much more visible damage and we got reimbursed for a new car seat.

Looks like the filler panel around the hitch is pushed in. Is the hitch crooked? Whatever that attaches to could be damaged

I just got rear ended by a damn Taco! Everyone is okay. My son and I got a little whiplash. I filed with my insurance and will get it checked out ASAP. My untrained eye doesn’t see much damage. We all know the Mav, so something could be lurking underneath.
Argue with the insurance company regarding diminished value. This accident may be reported to the gods if repairs are over a certain dolllar amount and go on your carfax report which will affect resale value. Argue with insurance and threaten to get an attorney.

I can’t really tell, but I think you are right. The guy said that is what he hit so I wouldn’t be surprised.
