I agree with you about the structure being compromised once repairedThat is tempting. But what if I get hit again? is the safety of the vehicle compromised? If it was just me and the vehicle was already paid off......I might go that route.
I'm still waiting to see what the payout will be. Hopefully it's a fair number.
Looking at the limitations of repairing high strength boron steel of which Ford uses quite a bit of it.
It really isn't a repairable Steel. Once damage it needs to be replaced not repaired.
On a side note.
If your truck was financed through Ford Motor Credit. Technically they still own it and they get a little picky about how it's repaired.

I don't know about anybody else.
I didn't lay out $25,000 to $30,000 for a new truck to be driving a truck that has $22,000 worth of repairs on it.
I still want my new truck.
That's why I have replacement coverage insurance.
