A few days ago, had a spirited discussion with a police officer who claimed the Maverickās brake lights were inoperative. As I had lifted off the gas, activated āLā while coasting uphill when approaching a stop sign and only briefly needed the brakes to complete the stop. I saw the cruiser not slowing enough to avoid hitting the truck, so I inched forward to avoid getting hit. Even then the officer left skid marks in her attempt to avoid an impact. She then activated the lights to make a traffic stop.Ya gone are the days of manual down-shift when slowing for like a corner or such.
But my RAV4 coasts worse than Mav and it's never had a brake light come on when doing so.
Mav is pretty slippery even when not in that mode.
Eco and manually engaging L sure.
But I'm betting people not watching enough to discern change of speed and closing the gap, won't see it even if brake light was on. Their brain is on other things.
I've watched that right in front of me constantly, which causes me to slow more, cause I can tell the goof-ball in front of me can't see what's happening right in front of them!
Highly agitated, she approached me yelling about the inoperative brake lights. When she returned to the cruiser to write the ticket, I called the department to request a supervisor as I was not going to confront an angry officer with the facts. Fortunately one appeared and of course conferred with her prior to approaching me. I offered to show him my front/rear dash camera video of her near accident but he refused. All the while I kept the brake lights illuminated to provide evidence to the contrary of her claim.
A ticket was issued and I have already demanded the cruiser video and will appear with my video. A complaint was filed on her attitude along with her unsafe driving technique. Predicting this will not go far.
This should be an interesting court session. The department has a reputation for not showing in court when a questionable traffic ticket is presented to the judge.
To make matters worse. I had three Scouts in the truck during the incident. Two of them want to go to the court session to observe.
Just one more example for these Scouts not to trust police.
