Rattle in the dash (a minor yet major annoyance)

Hey folks, some possibly good news.

Picked up my Mav today and my dealer mentioned the issue could be the hanger/connector that joins the dash with the firewall. It may be misshapen. Ford is aware of this and has posted an internal bulletin for dealerships according to the service manager I talked to.

Next steps are for me to take it back on Monday, where they will take apart the dash as asked by Ford to investigate. They will put me in a loaner.

Next steps for YOU:
If you have the same issue, visit your dealership, tell them others are having the same issue, and have them diagnose.

The more signals Ford gets that there's an issue, the quicker it will be fixed for other folks!

Was hoping not to have dash taken apart….but I’m to the point of not wanting the truck because of this! So yay! Also, I’m frazzled as it did this so much today all day and I’m really having to crank the radio!

What I also find wild is that it would be this firewall connection… mine is coming from the top corners of the glass and a-pillar area? But then again, sound travels, and gosh only knows! If you are the Guinea pig that gets this figured out for all of us on here! I will send you a beer, wine, flowers lol something!

Yes, it sounds like I have some from there as well. The only reason I agreed to have it taken apart is because the guy that's doing it is a master tech and has worked there 35 years. So it's not going to be some 18 year old kid breaking clips.

That’s true and cool! However, let’s hope he hasn’t had it up to “here (35years of service) level and as each clip breaks he’s like hell yeah, fuck’m, I have had to find these crazy ass (noise) issues for too long!!!

Sounds like they didn’t replace the windshield! Take a peak and picture of the bottom inside left of windshield. There are some stamped words and such there post it let me look at that. Because if it was replaced this will be different from mine….

Nice… need to see the left side for the wording… but I am assuming it was replaced based on your wiper de-icer lines are actually very visible vs mine. Also, where are your wipers at? I think mine need adjusted you can see the passenger wiper up on the windshield when in park or off? Very interesting… and you still have noise after windshield replacement

I live in Florida so it is warm here, Do all you guys have this issue only when it is cold?. Is it only the acoustical windshield(which I have)? ...this seems to be a windshield installation issue ?

Xlt lux 4K tow non lariat. Indiana does it between -10F up to 76F so far. I thought it was weather dependent but it appears to do it all the time… it is worse with tougher roadways (rippled, washboard, or ones that are smooth but cause suspension to move and body flex) it does appear temps can affect how loud or often it ticks as well… sadly been too cold here lately… but we had some 65-75 days and it’s still noisy. I agree windshield issue

Nope nothing yet from me… I finally have scheduled warranty service for Thursday 4/14…earliest to get in! My list for them:

1.)Dash/Windshield Ticking/clicking/rattle noise (This post).
2.)Defective Ford Bezel (emblem) covers the back tailgate camera (ripples, bubbling, and chrome area loose from bezel).
3.)Driver side Rearview mirror out of focus/distorted image.
4.)12v charging service system now warning and battery light. (Known issue across Ford brand -Wire harness issue)
5.)Recall Trailer brake reprogram
6.)Radio system won’t update to 1.8v radio locking up.
7.)No fender insulators-trying to get covered on warranty.
8.) noisy Low pressure fuel line/rattle vibration check clips/ known issue with being loose?
So hope to update everyone on here and the other post that these items are attached to!
Love the truck… just a few annoying one off issues… mostly the charging system issue and the clicking and ticking…

Man...pretty much carbon copy of my issues. Makes me not feel as bad because they're not one off issues. Auto stop seems to not kick on as quickly for me now and I get the vibration as well. I can't tell if it's from the fuel pump or somewhere below the truck.

I'm finally going back into the dealer on Tuesday. Been too busy to drop it off...

I have a rattle in my driver's side A pillar. Can't tell exactly where, but very annoying when the radio is off. Was going to remove the trim and see if I noticed anything probably tomorrow when I wire my dash cam on the other side.
