I have a 2022 Hybrid Lariat with Lux package and all the 360 driver assist bells and whistles. Very happy with the truck, now with 62k miles.

In Forscan I turned off the "normal" double honk when exiting the vehicle with the vehicle still on. This tweak works as expected. When dropping off my kids at school I can get out to give them a hug while keeping the truck on and it doesn't honk (y)

However: very occasionally the truck still double honks AFTER turning off the ignition (!!), and right when opening the driver door. This is SUPER annoying at times.

I cannot figure out what triggers this. And then most importantly: is there any setting in the vehicle that I can change to get rid of this annoyance?

Just to note: I am aware that the latest Ford Maverick recalls overwrite the BCM module, causing me to redo my little Forscan tweaks including the one related to the double honk. That's not it.

This random double honk is triggered by something else. But what is it?

As always: any feedback on this from the community would be really appreciated.

Cheers!

Double honk for me is usually when I lock the doors with the fob but something is still open. Could be a door, could be the hood, etc... Something with an "open/closed" switch is "open".

Mav47, happens to me too. No idea why, unless the truck doesn't think it's been shut off before opening the drivers door.

This happened to me a lot. I'd turn the ignition off and with the keys in my hand, open the door. The truck would honk twice and I would jump lol.

I figured out that I was hitting the lock button on the key fob when I was opening the door which was causing the truck to honk the horn.

I turned off the "honk on mislock" in the vehicle settings and it hasn't done it since.

I have a Lariat with push button start so I typically have the key fob in my pocket.

However, it could be that when opening the door I accidentally tap the lock button next to the door handle? The one thing I noticed is that this double honk typically happens when I'm somewhat rushed opening the driver door which also makes it hard to diagnose what exactly happened.

Your solution is certainly worth trying so I turned off the "mislock" alert in the cluster yesterday. Much appreciated!

I'll report back here whether this fixed it.

Thanks for the feedback, and if anyone else has any ideas keep them coming.

Cheers!

This is when I used to get it. If the truck is running and I exit and close the door with the key fob on me (key fob leaves the interior of the running vehicle). I have stopped this from happening by disabling this feature via Forscan.
Hope this helps.

i THINK (too lazy to check right now} that if you put on the parking brake, it won't do that.

Men does not double jock when exiting while running. Never has. But I do get this random double honk about once a month and have no time or reason why.
Glad mine didn’t do it while exiting while running. I use this for hunting and that would definitely cause me to rip the horn clean out of this truck.

True. But if you have truck off and key is still in slot it will double honk to remind you key has not been extracted.

Hate that double honk one hears on other vehicles. Annoying as hell and just more noise pollution. I don't get the point. If you need verification the flashing lights should be enough. (Get off my lawn, as well! lol)
As others here have pointed out, you can disable the honk in the vehicle settings. No need for Forscan. The truck will double honk if you leave the engine running and close one of the doors.

Double honk will NOT happen if you put running truck into park and set the electric brake. You can leave truck running and walk to gate or mail box or back into house to get something or let truck warm up or cool down with fob in your pocket. Truck will lock itself if fob movement is NOT detected for one minute (I think).

Honk on mislock - interesting.
I have the occasional random double horn honk also. Rare, but annoying, and even more annoying to my neighbors when I come home from the night shift at 5:30 AM. They don't want to hear any horns and neither do I.

I'll look into this "horn on mislock' thing and see if that works. WTH is a mislock anyway? I mean, it's either locked or its not.
