Dear fellow Mav-freaks. After 429 days (7/5/2021), Ford finally notified me that my Maverick was built. One week later I was notified that it had been shipped. After checking the window sticker, it also came with the factory price increase. MSRP (XLT) went up $1080. Lux package went up $155 and CP360 went up $110. For a total price increase of $1,345.

When speaking to the dealer about this price discrepancy (and how long I had to wait), he mentioned that I was covered with "price protection." He outlined that I would pay the current MSRP for the truck and that Ford would issue me a payment for the difference from the initial order. When pressed, the salesperson offered absolutely no assurances whatsoever. Only that, "people with order dates similar to/and after yours have been issued a payment in 30-90 days and that it may or may not be for the full amount"

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this legitimate or is this typical stealership bullshit?

I don’t have have any experience with it, but from the forum it sounds as though the dealership should be selling it to you for the original MSRP and then apply reimbursement for themselves.

We waited 1 Year, 1 Month, and 19 Days for ours and we received Z-plan price protection and 0.9 percent 48 Months interest protection from the day we ordered.

My hybrid Lariat (ordered 10/30/21) is built, awaiting shipment. The window sticker shows about $800 more than the quoted price, which I have in writing. He promised not only price protection, but he says he’s going to honor 0% for 36 months, since that was quoted when I put my deposit on the table. I did not know it when I ordered, but an acquaintance who’s a retired Ford executive signed me up for the x-plan discount. The dealer said they are not honoring A or X plans on Maverick, Bronco, and MachE. If they are true to their word on my original deal, and I believe they are, I will be quite satisfied. I’m getting excited. (So is my oldest son because he gets my indestructible 2005 Tundra.)

I agree. But, the dealership would never assume that risk.

The dealership will (probably) be reimbursed the difference between the new invoice and the original invoice cost.

This money does not come from Ford to the customer. It goes from Ford to the dealer in 60-90 days.

So they are being somewhat truthful.... The dealership should be reimbursed some, but it is based on the increase in dealer cost, not the MSRP increase.

Technically, the price protection is for the dealership (so that they can sell to customer at agreed upon price), not to the customer.

Doesn't the Smart Vincent at the dealer reflect the "Agreed on Price" at time of sale?

That is correct your dealer will collect the price difference from Ford, You pay the original price when you placed your order 😉
