I haven’t. I’ve continued to have problem after problem with my maverick as one of the early production models. So when it came out of the 3 year 36k warranty I ordered a 25 hybrid AWD lariat w/ 4k. (Should go into production next week) I love the maverick as a vehicle, but hate the one I have. Hoping that the next one will be a better experience.
What color did you order?

A lot of times, we software engineers use string lookups. We have a table of strings indexed by some key. Then in our code we'll do something like DisplayText(key_start-warning). It's so easy for somebody to use the wrong key, or for somebody to change the text associated with that key in the lookup table (both cardinal programming sins).

It gets really crazy when you have 100+ or even 1000+ engineers sharing the same code via a version control system. Even crazier when they are scattered all over the planet. More crazy when you have translations of that lookup table into multiple languages. Even crazier when that code is versioned to support multiple products or multiple versions of the same product. Even crazier when the well paid team managing that code gets fired to control costs, then replaced by H1Bs or aforementioned planet-wide-low-cost-employees. Who just go in and start hacking away without understanding.

Sometimes I watch in amazement that the truck doesn't do a Putin when I approach (explode).
Ahh the good ole days in 1972 when memory was super expensive. Had a unique CC data base approx 900k records with expanded record had about 1120 bytes length. Alfa Fixed length Key was built with first 4 of last name + first 2 of first name + first of middle, + etc... the data in the alfa key was not in the variable length master record to save disk space and was extracted as the variable length record was built. The key pointed to the disk drive, platter number, track number, upper or lower half of the fixed length record containing the variable length condensed records. The index key record points to the displacement of the last byte of the condensed record within the block. All because department head said the programmers could figure out a way to get by with 60% of the disk drives they asked for..... As part of the condensation routine we went with single digit year in all date fields so we had a "year 2000" type issue in 1980. We went with the one year when the senior programmer said I have been here 31 years and we have never gone more than 5 years without writing a new CC system. 😁
Edit to add: I remember in 1971(?) a 64k memory expansion for the IBM 370 installed low bid (not ibm) was $441,000.00.

I wish, I would have bought this with a manual in a heartbeat.
My 24AWD Ecoboost, and, and,
Yeah.

A five speed.
The Eco’s power band is wide enough.
Easy Peasy.

If mine had a manual tranny I wouldn’t have bought it. Gave up stick shift about 25 years ago and haven’t missed it

I have two other vehicles with a stick. I'm kinda
liking the butter smooth eCVT. I'd, just for fun, like to see a tachometer.

Yep, it's happened a few times on my '23 XLT hybrid during startup.

I just roll my eyes and cycle the ignition. So much for "Quality is Job #1".

🤣

Old coder here, I cannot stop laughing at your description of the new world of programming. And yes I was replaced by one of the cheaper alternatives and then got calls to come back, I stayed retired.

I stayed retired also even when offered 3-4 times the hourly prior to retirement plus per diem. Some of the offers were the "if I tell you what I'm doing I'll have to kill you"! ,(those were the days when that statement was expected and was not a joke).

Were you replaced by coal miners that learned to code? :cwl:
No, I was identified for “ permanent workforce reduction” meaning layed off, but they left off one word “cost” reduction, I had 5 months to train my replacement from India.
