My Mercedes SUV needed a jump start today. I've tried using a portable jump starter but didn't have enough power so I use my hybrid maverick. It worked well and very fast. Any thoughts? I hope I did the right thing 🙏

You can do it, but keep in mind that the 12v battery in the hybrid is small and may not work with vehicles that need a lot of cold cranking amps.

Thank you.
I guess this happens when you get a maverick. I forgot about my other vehicles.

I jump start my semi truck with my Geo Prizm. Geo battery is small and the semi users 3 950CCA batteries. However, I do have 180 amp alternator installed in the car.

I wonder how fast the hybrid can charge the 12v or multiple 12v? The generator and the HV battery will should be able to keep up easy but what is the rate from the HV to 12v.

The AGM battery in hybrids have very low cranking amps, less than most sedans, since hybrids start the ICE with the electric motor off the HV battery. There is no traditional alternator or starter. I've never tried jump starting off my 12v (older Hybrid not a Maverick), so I don't know if it could even start a mid-size pickup.

I'm not sure, probably one of you "electrical knowledgeable" guy can answer, but I think I read somewhere, owners manual?, that I could jump start my 2012 Escape from its hybrid battery. Something about special connectors in the back to jump from. Even if the 12V is dead it's unlikey the hybrid battery is also. But I may be totally out to lunch, I;m a carpenter not an electrician.
