I'm not anti EV, but the reality is the technology is in its infancy. You can debate the feel good climate benefits ad nauseum, but most people don't care. The hard numbers on cost of ownership makes the EV proposition shaky. I'll wait until there's are proven economic benefit, with no performance or drivability penalty until moving in that direction. The most irksome EV issue is braking as not one manufacturer has figured out how to make the regenerative/friction braking transition seamless.

I like 2.0 turbo engines. Both our vehicles have them. We're gas & oil people. Grew up that way. We love fossil fuels. :ROFLMAO:

What we need are decision makers that do not promote either technology. Let the people decide the mode of transportation they prefer and let these technologies sink or swim based on their merits.

Not a big fan of turbo engines. Makes things more complicated. It's a way to get the most out of a small engine. However it's the way of the world now. So far happy with my Mav ecoboost. I had an f150 3.5 ecoboost crappy 16mpg but that thing was pretty fast.

PEVs are todays CFLs. CFLs were never really accepted by the general public and were quickly replaced by LEDs. PEVs are a pain in the ass that will be replaced by hydrogen powered vehicles before PEVs are accepted by the general public.

Just caught this article this morning, claiming that Toyotas in particular pollute almost as much as non-electrified vehicles when measured in real-world scenarios.
https://thedriven.io/2024/04/18/toy...emit-four-times-more-co2-than-company-claims/
The Maveick is not a PHEV, you understand the difference, right?

The reason for the increased emissions is because owners are not plugging their PHEVs in at night, which the horribly written article never mentions.

Electric vehicles are smoother, more powerful, quieter, cheaper to own over their lifetime and more reliable than gasoline powered cars. They are better in almost every metric imaginable.

PHEVs are a stopgap compromise between purely gas and purely electric vehicles but eventually we'll be 100% electric for most smaller passenger travel.

I do find it comical that the OP posted this in the hybrid power train sub but doesn't understand that the Maverick is not a PHEV or electric vehicle. They just don't understand technology. Their lack of educstion is mildly amusing though, and shows why people have such a misconstrued idea on electric vehicles.

Go test drive a Lightning...with a 100 mile range while towing. 🤣
Not sure a dealership would allow you tow.

Who would want a vehicle that doesn't do what they need it to do. It's no secret that EV can't tow long distances. The F-150 is the best selling vehicle in the US.. how many of those out there actually tow?

Maybe the RAM EV will be able tow more than 100 miles.

I never liked the idea of phev... I bet a lot of people with them never plug them in... I know I would forget or just get lazy and not plug it in. Should be ICE, Hybrid or EV.

People with garages and short-ish commutes could definitely use a PHEV "properly"- commute on electric but still have ICE for longer drives. But if they don't bother, then it's just wasted gas to haul more weight around.....
