I heard there working on LIFETIME OIL and removing the dip stick, just change the filter every 30k.
The rumored Ford Maverick EV should be removing the dip stick and has lifetime oil.

Hello everyone!
I have a quick question.
This is my first time changing oil in my ecoboost AWD Maverick.
The question is can I use 5w30 full synthetic in the Maverick? Thank you so much!
Yes, and better than the blend. Blend is cost-saving measure. Put the Motorcraft Fully Synthetic in. Best of luck!

I had mine in last week to get the recalls taken care of and decided to make use of my free oil change coupon. I asked if they use full synthetic, nope it is a blend. I asked how much it would be to go full synthetic and the service writer acted like he had never been asked that before. After 5 minutes on the phone with the parts department it was determined that it would cost me $65 to upgrade to full synthetic. "Ummm, 7 quarts of Moble 1 and a filter costs me less than that" I replied. "Just the recall work today then?" he asked? Sheesh!

General Motors is now recommending a switch from 0W-20 to 0W-40 motor oil for vehicles equipped with the 6.2L V8 L87 engine due to potential internal engine defects. This change is part of a safety recall affecting nearly 600,000 vehicles to improve engine protection and performance

Thicker oil is a band aid on the problem.

In the never ending quest to make modern engines frictionless - a problem slipped through the cracks on this engine design - pun intended:)

I'm no chemical engineer, just wondering how much thicker 0W-40 really is compared to 0W-20. I mean it's still 0W at the low end. How does this work?

40 is twice as thick as 20 when engine is at full operational temperature.
OW only applies to cold engines at start up.

Note:
If the oil journals are designed to pass 20 and you run 40 oil pressure may increase but that’s because oil flow has been slowed.
This can cause engine destroying hot spots/areas.
Per the owners manuals there are different weights used in extreme climates. But they are usually a minimal viscosity variation.

Alright wrenches, did I get it right ?

It doesn’t shear down near as quickly when it gets hot.

That's the "magic" of multi-grade oil?
